TRENCHING
Providing a Clear Trench Path
In order for our contractors to be able to trench the path where underground power lines shall be buried, the following items need to be completed:
Ensure site is to final grade.
Make sure there are no obstructions in path (i.e. building material, pavers, blocks, dumpsters, portable toilets, etc).
Remove temporary erosion control fence in conflict with trenching path.
Mark private utilities (see attached document: ‘Marking Private Utilities’).
Also, the Project Designer will stake and flag the trenching path prior to releasing the project to construction. ***These flags and/or stakes shall not be removed, relocated or tampered with under any circumstance.***
Trenching Established/Landscaped Yards
The figure below illustrates an example of a trenched yard. Please be advised that results may vary significantly for different yards.
Dominion does not guarantee any specific results after trenching a yard.
The trench is backfilled and mounded with the same soil removed from the trench path.
The trenching path will not be leveled, reseeded, resodded, or landscaped in any way.
Trees
Any trench work done near tree roots may cause damage to the tree, which can result in the tree’s eventual death. Dominion will not be held responsible for tree damage.
Guide drilling near tree roots is available at an additional cost to the customer.
