MARKING PRIVATE UTILITIES
The customer is responsible for marking all existing or planned underground, private utilities. Dominion and /or its contractors will not be held responsible for damage to private facilities if their location is not marked correctly.
Private utilities include, but are not limited to:
 sewer line from the main, across the yard, to where it enters the house;
 water lines from the meter to the house;
 buried and above ground propane tanks and all associated lines;
 buried and above ground fuel oil tanks and all associated lines;
 irrigation systems (we need to know where all of the lines run as well as marking the heads and any associated control wires for the system);
 invisible dog fences;
 septic tanks and associated drain fields and electric lines that run the pumps in some systems (both in use and abandoned);
 private electric, gas, water and communications lines that run to boat docks, garages, outbuildings, yard watch lights, etc.; and
 private wells and all of the supply (electric & water) lines associated.
***Please keep in mind that Miss Utility does not mark these lines.***
If you are unaware of the location of any of the above items that pertain to you, a private contractor will need to be hired (i.e. a plumber might be able to locate water and sewer lines). A list of private locators can be found at http://va811.com/resources/private-locators/.
