About this file
This document provides supplemental retaining wall parameters for a geotechnical engineering study of the USDA-ARS Knipling-Bushland Research Laboratory Modernization Project. The retaining wall parameters include recommended active lateral earth pressure values and friction angles for various on-site formations and lithologies that may be encountered, including clayey gravel, lean clay, limestone, and select fill. Concrete retaining walls are planned as part of the facility improvement and expansion. The retaining wall parameters were not included in the original May 29, 2019 geotechnical engineering report but are necessary for design of the planned retaining walls. The Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Fort Worth is the agency overseeing the solicitation for the USDA-ARS Knipling-Bushland Research Laboratory Modernization Project.

Retaining wall recommendations were not within the scope of work for the above referenced Report.
Concrete retaining walls are now planned as part of the improvement and expansion of the facility, and recommended retaining wall parameters for the site are provided below in Table 1. The parameters presented for the Select Fill is an assumed value, since we do not know what the Select FilIwill be ultimately utilized at the site
