About this file

This is an Official Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for Amendment 3 of a federal solicitation addressing clarifications on water treatment and dialysis system requirements.

The document clarifies specifications for the Defender water filtration system, confirming it includes two separate 4.5" x 20" filters: a 5-micron Magna Pre-Filter and a US Water Disruptor 222 Filter Cartridge (with micron rating to be based on standard OEM specifications). The response also addresses a critical requirement update regarding six (6) 3.5 CUFT (14" by 47") Deionization (DI) tanks, which must be replaced or exchanged on a bi-annual basis every six months. Vendors are required to factor this mandatory replacement cycle into their pricing. For the MarCor Dialysis system, the contractor bears full responsibility for physically performing weekly chemical disinfection on-site, including all associated labor and materials costs. The government will not perform these disinfection tasks, and contractors must ensure their quotes reflect the expenses associated with weekly on-site visits to complete this specific service requirement.

Official Q&A Responses (For Amendment 3)

Q1: I wanted to clarify the filters for the defender system. You said, "Features a 5 Micron Magna Pre-Filter and a US Water Disruptor 4.5" x 20" 222 Filter Cartridge". Are these 2 separate filters. If so, what are the dimensions on the Magna prefilter and what is the micron rating on the disruptor?

A1: Yes, these are two separate filters. Both filters are 4.5” x 20” in size. The Magna Pre- Filter is a 5-micron filter. The exact micron rating for the Disruptor filter is currently unavailable; please base your quote on the standard OEM specifications for the "US Water Disruptor 4.5" x 20" 222 Filter Cartridge."

Q2: For the MarCor Dialysis system, I see that you ask for weekly chemical disinfection. Are we performing this disinfection, or do you have a tech on site to perform this, and we are just providing materials?

A2: The contractor is responsible for physically performing the weekly chemical disinfection. The government will not perform this task. Please ensure your pricing reflects the labor and materials required for weekly on-site visits to perform this specific disinfection.

Q3: I also want to confirm that there are no DI tanks and final filters on the defender system.

These usually are a requirement to meet AAMI best practices, but it was not specified in Amendment 2.

A3: Yes, the Defender system utilizes six (6) 3.5 CUFT (14” by 47”) Deionization (DI) tanks.

The PWS and Attachment 5 have been updated to include these components. The government requires these six (6) DI tanks to be replaced/exchanged on a bi-annual (every 6 months) basis. Vendors must factor this mandatory 6-month replacement cycle into their pricing.
