About this file

This is a Vendor Question and Government Response document addressing 11 inquiries regarding reverse osmosis (RO) systems and water treatment equipment maintenance at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

The document clarifies specifications for three RO systems: the Mar Cor RO features a 69-gallon internal storage tank with heat disinfection capability, two 80-gallon carbon tanks containing 6.0 cubic feet of carbon media each, and weekly chemical sanitization with nightly loop heat disinfection. The Defender RO includes a 200-gallon natural HDPE cone bottom bulk storage tank, two Pulsar Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems rated at 20 GPM, a 5-micron Magna Pre-Filter, and a Bodyguard Plus Carbon Backwashing Filter, with cleaning and sanitization required every three months. The AmeriWater Mobile ROs require chemical sanitization every six months. The Central Sterile RO operates on a distribution loop with 2-inch piping diameter. Regarding filter specifications, complete detailed specifications for the Defender RO sub-filters are unavailable from the government; the contractor must support OEM-equivalent components. The government does not mandate a specific disinfection method but requires any proposed approach to comply with AAMI standards and maintain full OEM warranty coverage. Equipment operation and maintenance manuals physically located on-site will be made available to the winning contractor upon contract award. The government will not conduct a site visit due to geographical constraints of the contracting personnel.

# Vendor Question Government Response

1 Does the Mar Cor RO have heat disinfection?

Yes.

2 What is the storage tank size (gallons) for the Mar Cor RO?

69-gallon internal tank.

3 Please provide a list of all filters (pre, post, carbon, tank vent) with dimensions and micron ratings for all systems.

• Mar Cor & AmeriWater Filters: See the filter breakdown table in Section 3 below.

• Defender RO Filters: Features a 5 Micron Magna Pre-Filter and a US Water Disruptor 4.5" x 20" 222 Filter Cartridge. Complete sub-filter specs are unavailable; contractor must support OEM-equivalent.

4 What is the make and model of the UV unit on each system?

• Mar Cor & AmeriWater: Not specified/applicable.

• Defender RO: Equipped with two (2) Pulsar

Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems, 20 GPM.

5 Are there carbon or DI exchange tanks? If so, what is the resin volume for each?

• Mar Cor: Two (2) carbon tanks, 80-gallon capacity each, with 6.0 cubic feet of carbon media.

• AmeriWater: Two (2) carbon filters (2.5" x 20"), resin volume not specified.

• Defender RO: Includes a Bodyguard Plus Carbon Backwashing Filter; media volume is standard to the OEM configuration.

6 What is the preferred disinfection method for each RO and its loop? Are we restricted to a specific method?

There is no government-preferred method. The contractor is free to propose any AAMI-compliant method that keeps the OEM warranty fully intact.

7 Can the O&M manual for the Defender RO be released to vendors?

The government does not currently possess a digital copy of the Defender RO manual to distribute. All equipment manuals physically on-site will be made available to the winning contractor upon award.

8 What is the make and model of the Defender RO storage tank?

It is a 200 Gallon Natural HDPE Cone Bottom Bulk Storage Tank with an 8" Lid and Black PE Support Stand.

9 Is the Central Sterile RO on a distribution loop? If so, what is the piping diameter?

Yes. It is on a distribution loop with a 2-inch piping diameter.

10 PWS 2.2 indicates all systems are sanitized monthly. Can you confirm this schedule?

No. The sanitization schedule is revised to align with OEM/installer recommendations:

• Mar Cor: Chemically sanitized weekly; loop heat disinfected nightly.

• Defender RO: Cleaned/sanitized every 3 months.

• AmeriWater Mobile ROs: Chemically sanitized every

6 months. (See PWS revisions in Section 4 below).

11 Will there be a site visit?

There will not be a site visit for this effort, as the Contract Specialist and Contracting Officer are not local to Wright Patterson AFB.
