CDP-COBRATF-19.6.0
FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY 2
B. During the weeks in which paramedics are scheduled to assist the RBC AChE Lab personnel with blood draw at the 900 area, the biohazardous containers and/or bags are transported by the paramedic that is assigned to the ambulance.
C. The blood lab brings their biohazardous containers to the medical room in building 61 no later than Monday afternoon of each week. Biohazardous trash is picked up and transported upon completion of blood draw duties on Tuesday mornings. The biohazardous trash shall not be loaded into the ambulance the night before nor prior to blood draw duties the following morning due to the possibility of a patient transport.
D. Biohazardous containers and/or bags at the NTF or ARTC should be transported to the medical room in building 61 no later than COB on Monday of each week.
E. Biohazardous containers and/or bags at the COBRATF should be carried directly to the incinerator.
F. If there is not a blood draw scheduled on Tuesday morning, the biohazardous trash is carried at the next scheduled blood draw during that week. In the event that transportation of the biohazardous trash interferes with MSS support requirements, the COBRATF Lead
Paramedic or MSS DPM must be contacted to determine when the biohazardous trash will be transported.
G. Once the biohazardous trash arrives at the COBRATF incinerator, retrieve the key to unlock the bin from O&M personnel. The biohazardous containers or bags are carried inside the building and neatly placed in the bin that is labeled with biohazard signs.
Verify that each container or bag is completely closed prior to placing into the bin. Do not throw any biohazardous trash over the side into the bin. Close and lock the bin door and return the key to O&M personnel.
H. During weeks in which there are few or no scheduled blood draws, the COBRATF Lead
Paramedic, or the MSS DPM, determine when the biohazardous containers and/or bags will be transported.
