About this file
This modification amends a solicitation for a raised access floor upgrade at the Defense Information Systems Agency Data Center in Columbus. The upgrade involves installing a signal reference grid and securing it to existing access floor pedestals using #6 conductors clamped to every pedestal. Questions were received and answered to clarify that existing access floor specifications apply, #6 conductors clamped to pedestals meet bonding requirements, and two-inch copper straps are not required. The related federal contract opportunity is for the DISA Data Center Columbus Raised Access Floor Upgrade, with responses due under solicitation number HC102820R0018. The amendment provides clarification on technical requirements for bonding the signal reference grid in an existing raised access floor configuration.

QUESTION AND ANSWER (AMD0005)
Questions and Answers
1. Question: Appendix C spec 5.3. The last line states “Configure the SRG in 2 foot by 2 foot (maximum) grids in accordance with one of the following:”
a. The following options are “Secure SRG to Subfloor (New Access-Floor Installations)” or “Secure SRG to Floor Pedestals (Existing Access –Floor)”.
b. I assume we can use the “Secure SRG to Floor Pedestals (Existing Access-
Floor)”? and can use #6 for the SRG grid and clamp to every pedestal.
Answer: Yes, we consider this existing access floor and the #6 attached to the pedestals is acceptable.
2. Question: This would also eliminate the need for 5.3.2 d. (3) where it states bond every 3rd access-floor pedestal (maximum 6 foot on centers) to the SRG with a #6 AWG concentric copper conductor since the SRG is already clamped/bonded to every pedestal, correct?
Answer: This depends on the connector you are using at the pedestals. Bonding at every 3rd pedestal is the minimum requirement, if every connector is conductive bonding clamp (UL Listed) than you exceed the minimum requirement.
3. Question: If we are using New Access, are we required to use the 2” wide copper straps and not the #6, correct?
Answer: Not applicable, we consider this an existing access floor (2” copper straps not required).
4. Question: If only the 2” wide copper strap is acceptable, is this to be placed on the floor? And not anchored?
5. Question: Drawing E-100 note 7 states “Exothermic welds are not allowed in the Facility”.
Appendix C 5.3.1 requires the 2 inch wide copper straps to be bonded at every 2’ intersection.
Are they wanting us to bolt this? Normally a cadweld exothermic welded connection is per manufacture installation guide.
