RFI : Invitation for Bid Space Alterations and Renovation, Rutland USPO and Federal Building, Rutland Q. Are you able to tell me at this time if there is an historic lighting restoration or replication package included in this project? If so, will it be released soon? The solicitation that was released yesterday had Section 16511 Interior Lighting, but did not mention any historic lighting restoration or replication A. Reference amendment 002 for drawings and specification.
Q. Request for Clarifications Section 15940 Sequence of Operations for HVAC Controls (dated 4-30-10)
1. Specification Section 15940, 2.1, F, 3 & 4. The existing Johnson controls energy management supervisory controller (N30) has been discontinued for quite some time. Parts & Support are no longer available from the manufacture. It also has very limited capacity remaining for expansion of new controllers and or points. It communicates via a Johnson controls N2 network to field controllers. It will not accept the Bacnet or Lonworks communication protocols required for the Variable Refrigerant Flow System as specified, without a system upgrade to eliminate the N30 controller and replace it with its modern day replacement which will communicate to the existing legacy N2 devices as well as open protocols etc...
Please issue directive as soon as possible. Below are some potential solutions based on our information from past projects that our company has performed at this site, -Leave the existing N30/M5 workstation system in place, add as many (system is near capacity currently) new points and controllers as possible for this project & eliminate the Variable Refrigerant Flow System integration requirements (any Bacnet or Lonworks).
-Upgrade the energy management system in its entirety (Johnson controls supervisory controller, Software, Graphics, Programming, Training, etc…) as part of this project, to allow for the new points and integration required for this project as well as future projects as well as maintaining all existing legacy N2 products & systems.
A. The control system requirements are addressed in the drawings and specifications. Any equipment substitution or replacement will be reviewed and approved after contract award.
Q. Are there specifications for the security system
A. The security system equipment is supplied under another contract. The scope of work applies to providing the necessary rough-ins
Q. Today is the deadline for RFI’s, when will responses to RFI’s be made available?
A. 06/30/2010
