About this file
This document is a memorandum from the 377th Civil Engineer Division (AFGSC) of the Department of the Air Force providing guidance to contractors and vendors performing work on Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) for the generation and disposal of regulated asbestos waste material. It outlines the regulatory requirements for notifying the Albuquerque Environmental Health Department prior to commencing any asbestos abatement operations, and the need to obtain the signature of the Environmental Specialist/Asbestos Operations Officer on a valid waste manifest prior to transporting any regulated asbestos waste off KAFB. The memorandum emphasizes that failure to comply with these requirements may result in a Notice of Violation with financial penalties, which would be assessed to the abatement contractor.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the replacement of two 12,470V to 480V transformers and installation of a 200A panelboard located in Building 27497 on KAFB. The Statement of Work defines the requirements to replace the outdated transformers and associated equipment and wiring to reconnect the power supply to the buildings served by the transformers.
