About this file

This file is a Question and Answer document for federal contract opportunity FA910126QB018, addressing vendor inquiries regarding the procurement of two new air compressors for AEDC's VKF Plant building.

The procurement involves installation of two new compressors to replace existing service air compressors at an indoor, ground-floor location within the facility. Key infrastructure details include: access via a roll-up door (approximately 18'x24') at the west end of the building; AEDC-provided 40-ton overhead crane and/or forklift support for all lifts; existing piping connections provided by AEDC; and adequate air storage capacity (600-1,000 gallons) already available. Vendors are responsible for making their own electrical connections on the backside of the 480V electrical disconnect for each compressor, reusing existing electrical materials and furnishing new materials as necessary. The compressors will supply compressed air to AEDC's existing desiccant dryer, tank, and filter and oil-water separator system, with all compressed air requirements specified in the SOO Attachment 1 (Performance Parameters). AEDC is open to vendor suggestions for improving the existing condensate collection system. The procurement is subject to the Buy American Act per FAR RFP 52.225-1. No current incumbent contract exists, as this is in the solicitation phase. Photos and as-built drawings of existing equipment will be provided through the IRA process.

Photos will be provided, but existing area and where the new ones will be installed is indoors and will be on the ground floor of our VKF Plant building. Two large roll up doors less than 75ft away, can coordinate with our team to re-arrange accordingly.

Will AEDC provide electrical connection? We can provide piping connection but not the electrical.

SOO Attachment 1:1.3.5 Reuse existing electrical materials and furnish new as necessary to extend existing electrical supply for the two (2) new compressors. The electrical interface for the new compressors should not exceed the backside of the 480V electrical disconnect for each compressor. According to the SOO, we are asking the vendor to make their own electrical connections on the backside of the 480V disconnect. Unless we are advised differently, the electrical interface should be the vendor’s responsibility to provide a fully functional system

7 Is there a forklift that can be used to install the air compressors?

Yes, The access point will be a roll up door (approximately 18’x24’) at the west end of the building. AEDC will operate a 40T overhead crane and/or forklift to support all lifts required.

8 Will the compressor be outdoors? If yes, will it have a roof over it?

The existing service air compressors will be inside with a roof over it. The new compressors will take their place in the same spot.
