5.2.5 Main Distribution Frame (MDF). The MDF shall include terminal blocks on the horizontal side of the frame, all gray wiring between the horizontal blocks and the switches, central office connectors (vertical block) including the protector modules installed on the vertical side of the frame, all cross-connect wiring between the horizontal blocks and the switch, horizontal block to horizontal block, horizontal block to vertical block and vertical block to vertical block, and all fiber optic equipment including the light guide distribution shelf, patch panel, and associated equipment.

5.2.5.1 Where zone conduit or cable tray is not available in a suspended ceiling space and where telecommunications cables are allowed to be placed in the ceiling, adequate open-top cable supports, located on 48-60 inch centers, shall be provided. Where larger quantities of cables (50-75 cables) are bunched together in a ceiling at a congested area special supports shall be designed and installed to carry the additional weight. A suspended ceiling support rod or wire may be used to mount appropriate cable fasteners loaded with multiple cables up to the total weight for which the fastener is approved. The T-bar rail of a suspended ceiling may be used to mount appropriate cable fasteners loaded with cable up to a total weight of 0.45 lb/ft. The fastener design shall not interfere with the inserting or removal of ceiling tile.

5.2.5.2 All cable within conduit no longer in use will be removed and not abandoned.

5.2.5.3 Universal wiring shall be termination of 8-wire cable providing either voice or data port with an RJ-45 jack using T458B wiring standard.
