Question Set 6
21 June 2024
Question/Response:
Appendix B
1. The existing GFE mobile storage system referenced in Appendix G, 3.1 (System 2) was upgraded in 2011 utilizing rails that were previously installed for the original GFE system. The original rails are imbedded in the concrete and anchored to footers. To remove them per Appendix G,
3.1.1.1 would involve digging below the slab and may impact the structural integrity of the building. Please advise.
Per Appendix B paragraph 3.2.7.1. If the Contractor certifies that the existing rails and support structures is compatible, useable, and will provide the minimum service life in the Cover PD, then the rails may be left intact for reuse.
2. Per Question Set 5, the existing rail centers are indicated at 99”, 111”, 111” and 111”. These rail centers align with the dimensions of the pallet rack indicated in Drawing VNF904-01. Per 3.2.7:
“Rails shall be installed no more than 7’ apart and be equally spaced apart and be installed under each upright.” Further 3.2.7 indicates the use of ramps for the new system. Utilizing recessed rails, either existing or new, means there will be no ramps in the system. Please clarify.
Appendix B Mech-Assist Mobile Storage paragraph 3.2.7. has been revised to now state “If the contractor determines GFE rails cannot be reused the new rails shall be installed no more than seven feet apart and be equally spaced apart and shall be installed under each upright. Rails shall be set back far enough from the ends of the carriage to prevent the ramps from extending into the aisle.”
3. 3.1.1.1 Removal of existing equipment: System indicated in Photo 1-A (IEU Room) is carpeted on the plywood floor. Removal of the decking indicates floor below is to be patched and repaired. There is no mention of replacing the carpet and based upon the age of the existing carpet would be difficult to match. Please clarify.
Please review Appendix D Bin Shelving paragraph 3.2.15. as it states new carpet shall be installed by the contractor prior to installation of the bin shelving.
4. 3.1.1 Section states that the wire cages are to be removed along with the shelving. Drawing VNF901-01 shows one of the Wire Partitions still intact. Further, the BPO has indicated that both existing Wire Cages are to remain. Please advise.
It has been confirmed that both existing wire cages will be removed
5. Would a separate battery charger be acceptable for this bid?
No, per Appendix F paragraph 3.3.1.2. an on-board charger is required
