About this file
This document contains additional information and expectations for replacement car lifts for Conformal Fuel Tank (CFT) handling operations.
The government requires replacement car lifts that maintain a similar configuration to current equipment. Each 2-post lift must be modified and rotated to lift from outside across the posts rather than between them. Two 2-post lifts are to be connected together to create double-sided car lifts that function as counterbalances with independent controls on each side. A total of three double-sided lifts are needed to simultaneously handle six CFTs (three left-hand and three right-hand), with each double-sided lift capable of holding a CFT on both sides concurrently. The contractor must ensure that the standard 2-stage arms are replaced with Special Tooling (part number X200315801), which will not be modified by the government. The contractor bears responsibility for adapting the special tooling to mount on the new car lifts while maintaining the same width between mounting points to ensure proper alignment of CFT hard points with the tooling hard points. Each double-sided lift will have left-handed special tooling on one side and right-handed special tooling on the other side.

Additional Info/Expectations for replacement car lifts
- The government is expecting the replacement car lifts to be in a similar configuration as the current lifts. Refer to attached photos of current car lifts for clarification.
- Each 2-post lift should be modified/rotated to pick up from the outside across the posts instead of in between the posts like a regular car lift would do. Photos show how a Conformal Fuel Tank is mounted across the two post lifts.
- (2) 2-post car lifts should be connected to one another to create a double-sided car lift. They are connected together to act as a counterbalance for one another. Each should have it’s own controls that act independently from one another. One side will be for holding a Left-Hand Conformal Fuel Tank and the other side for a Right-Hand Conformal Fuel Tank. We need 3 total double-sided lifts in all for a total of 6 CFT’s (3 left hand and 3 right hand) to be handled at any given time. Although the photos only show one CFT mounted on a double-sided car lift, each double-sided Car Lift should be capable of holding a CFT on each side at the same time.
- 2 Stage Arms that come with a standard 2 post Car Lift shall be replaced with the Special Tooling (X200315801). Contractor is responsible for making sure the special tooling can adapt/mate to the new Car lifts. Special Tooling will not be modified. The width between mounting points of the special tooling should remain the same as current to ensure the CFT Hard Points will line up with it. Contractor will ultimately be responsible for ensuring the Hard Points on the CFT line up with the Special Tooling Hard Points. Photos of the special tooling attached to our existing lifts are included for clarification. One side of a double-sided lift will have the left-handed special tooling while the other will have the right-handed special tooling.
