About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document from a federal contract solicitation for the Strategic Ground Sensors program. The document addresses a contractor inquiry regarding the availability of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) file types, specifically .step, .stp files, and Ansys Mechanical APDL design files that were not included in the solicitation package. The contracting officer, Brandon A. Jones (NH-03, DAF, AFLCMC/ESGK-R), clarifies that the U.S. Government (USG) received only PDF-format drawings from the original source, which is why CAM file types were explicitly written into the Statement of Work (SOW) as a deliverable requirement. This response indicates that contractors are responsible for generating the necessary CAM files as part of their performance obligations rather than relying on pre-existing digital design files.

Text version

Q: I noticed that some of the Ansys files have been included but some necessary ones are not there. Do you have the .step or .stp files, or the Ansys Mechanical APDL design file(s)?Having these would save a lot of redesign work.

A: These file types are Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) type files that are loaded into the milling machines to manufacture parts. The USG was delivered drawings in pdf format.

This is why we wrote the SOW to include CAM file types.
