Questions and Answers Site Visit, 15Dec2010
1. Hydraulics
· No direct interface with pump systems, we want the flexibility to move equipment between shops
· Test stand capable of measuring flow, pressure, temp
2. Electrically
· Calibration / Sensor adjustment no longer done by mechanic
· Torque to be sensed differently
a. Geometry causes inconsistent torque readings that affect operation, steer rate, damping coefficient
· DC motor to know longer be supplied with 208 VAC if possible
3. Software
· Old basic on floppy, LabVIEW certified
· Data Acquisition based on damping test, the USB 6008 wasn’t good enough for a good measurement of LISSAJOUS plot
· Sense I/O position, torque, temp, pressure, flow, motor frequency,
· Calibration locked out to the mechanic
· Interface like T100,000
4. Mechanically
· “In line design”
· Do not like the cam action for driving output shaft, tails in plot
· Manually operated steering
· No interchange between F5 & T38
Follow up questions / tasks:
· What is the lowest acceptable cycle rate for the damping test?
The test stand should be designed so that the following parameters are met by the end item during the damping test specified in section 3.6 of this PS: “…the unit shall provide damping about the center line of the nose gear strut at a rate of not less than 150 lb-in/rad/sec between 15 and 25 CPS and between one to 3 degrees total amplitudes.
· What version of LabVIEW is desired?
LabVIEW 2010 is to be the programming solution. Contractor is required to provide 3 copies of source and executable code. A copy and license of LabVIEW 2010 with the development package necessary to build the test program code is also to be supplied. Purchase specification sections 3.4.1 & 3.8.4 have been revised to clarify this question.
· What is the schedule of delivery for GFE?
The Government Furnished Equipment Memo signed by parties at Hill AFB, specifies that Hill will make available one asset each of the T38 & F5 Steer Damper Unit in any condition within 3 weeks after contract award. The memo also states that Hill will make available 1 asset each of the T38 & F5 Steer Damper Unit in field ready condition with the necessary internal valves to complete the Verification and Validation testing within 18 weeks after contract award. Table VII of the purchase specification was revised to clarify.
· Accuracies for sensing equipment?
As stated in T.O. 4SA3-42-3 section 7.1 all input parameters are to be within +/-2 percent of specified pressure, flow, force, torque, and voltage. Sensors and measurement instrumentation are to meet this requirement. Section 3.3.7 was to the purchase specification to clarify this.
· Tolerance of pressures in testing?
As stated in T.O. 4SA3-42-3 section 7.1 all input parameters are to be within +/-2 percent of specified pressure, flow, force, torque, and voltage.
· Breakout force testing torque limits
For further clarification on the break-out force tests specified in Table I of the purchase specification at 2800 psig the measured torque is not to exceed the specified 16.5 in-lbs and 30 in-lbs.
· Make of screen (not necessary)
· Clean fluid that meets same fluid requirements for test stand at hill clause.
Inserted clarification in section 5 of purchase specification.
· Revise 7.6.5.k in T38 T.O.
Made requested changes in table 1.
