About this file

This document outlines engineering data requirements for the A-10 Thunderbolt Advanced Wing Continuation Kit (ATTACK) federal contract opportunity. The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center is seeking proposals to manufacture an A-10 wing assembly with the part number 162D610010-1001. Key engineering changes include removing unnecessary part constraints, updating inspection requirements, refining assembly tolerances for interchangeable items, revising composite structure scanning specifications, and modifying anti-rotation pins on a deceleron assembly. Proposers must meet all technical data package requirements as modified by the sixteen notes in this attachment.

1. The final manufactured 162D610010-1001 wing assembly shall be per the TDP delivered with the RFP with the exceptions noted herein. These exceptions may be incorporated into the final 162D610010-1001 TDP that will include incorporated items from this attachment as well as a revised attachment A. This final TDP will be delivered at contract award. The delivered TDP along with this attachment constitute all the expected changes that will create the final 162D610010-1001 configuration. There may be minor changes in the TDP at time of award.

2. The following notes may include part numbers that represent the scope of the engineering change.

While considerable effort has been placed in identifying these applicable part numbers and assemblies, these lists may not be final and all-inclusive. The contractor may encounter differences between the provided lists and the TDP, in this situation the contractor shall contact A-10 SPO engineering to resolve any ambiguities.

3. Part Report Note GDT-27 will be removed from parts/assemblies that are not peripherally constrained at the next higher assembly. These parts/assemblies shall meet TDP requirements in an un-restrained and un-weighted condition.

The following part numbers indicate parts/assemblies affected by this change:

162D611512-1003 162D611512-1004

162D611512-2053 162D611512-2054

162D612512-1003 162D612512-1004

162D612512-2053 162D612512-2054

Note that next higher assemblies may have a change of part number only to maintain configuration control.

4. Design and installation of aluminum end caps/plugs on all hydraulic tube assemblies shall be per NAS 847 .

5. The inspection requirements of 160D900004 shall apply. Though part numbers referenced in the drawing, refer to legacy parts, all requirements shall be applicable for equivalent ATTACK parts.

6. Interchangeable items may require a refinement of assembly tolerances of non-specified Interchangeable features in order to ensure Interchangeable items can be assembled without a modification in order to meet the overarching Interchangeable requirement as defined in MIL-I-8500.

7. 162S900718, “Inspection of Composite Structure; S-F502 Supplement,” will be updated to allow for through transmission ultrasonics scanning speeds to be faster than six inches per second. Additionally, it will clarify rejection criteria.
