About this file
This is a technical specification for fabric reinforcement for asphalt concrete pavements at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, dated April 2019.
The specification establishes requirements for geotextile fabric materials used in pavement reinforcement applications. The fabric must comply with AASHTO M 288 (Geotextile Specification for Highway Applications) as specified in ODOT Standard Specification for Highway Construction Section 712. Contractors must submit product data, samples, certificates of compliance, and manufacturer's instructions for government approval prior to material use, in accordance with Section 01 33 00 submittal procedures. Fabric shall be supplied in rolls of standard length and width uniformly wound on cylindrical cores to facilitate mechanical laydown installation, with widths and lengths providing full pavement coverage with minimal joints and splices. Storage requirements mandate protection from sunlight, moisture, and contamination, with rolls stored off the ground and covered with opaque, watertight tarpaulins. Installation must follow ODOT SSHC Section 409 specifications and manufacturer's instructions. The specification explicitly holds contractors financially responsible for repairs to any fabric damage or unbonding caused by traffic, wet weather conditions, or equipment during the installation process.
