About this file
This document is a site visit vendor questions log for a B650 Communication Vault Upgrade project. The document details specific technical requirements and considerations for potential vendors, including floor height specifications (10-12" with everything 18" below existing sprinklers), CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) unit placement, venting requirements, and core drilling considerations. Key technical instructions include using Daikin CRAC units, venting two 9"x9" openings into the UPS room for additional cooling, and treating all core drilling areas as potentially containing asbestos. Vendors are instructed to complete bids as written but may propose configuration changes after award with approval from the contracting office and CS/SCXP. Additional logistical details cover power panel placement, potential escort requirements, and disposal of existing infrastructure like desks, carpet, and tiles off-base. The document emphasizes that the power panel should be located inside the room and power all room items, including the alarm panel.

B650 Communication Vault Upgrade
Site visit vendor questions
- Concerns regarding floor height?
o 10 to 12” but remember everything must be 18” below existing sprinkler
- Door removal?
o If door is required to be moved to bring in CRAC that is fine, but I don’t foresee that being an issue.
- Venting above ceiling?
o If the vents are above the false ceiling no issues but venting should be directly into the racks so hot/cold aisle isn’t needed.
- Reconfiguring the floor layout?
o Please complete bids as written. If the vendor elects to change the configuration at no additional expense after award get approval through contracting office and CS/SCXP.
- Can CRACs be placed on other side of wall?
o Not recommended. However, complete bids as written. If the vendor changes configuration (at no additional expense) after award get approval through contracting office and CS/SCXP.
- Core drilling?
o Recommend treating everything as having asbestos and abate.
o X-Ray walls as required by CES.
- Venting into UPS Room?
o Vent into UPS room two openings required (not to exceed 9”X9”).
o This will provide additional cooling into UPS area.
- HVAC / CRAC Type?
o Daikin CRAC units are required; MOD will come.
- Desk, carpet disposal, concrete (coring), tiles?
o Off base
- Where to Core for fiber and electrical vault entry?
o Pointed out above vault door. However, this would be up to the vendor.
- Questions regarding where the false floor should start?
o The blue portion of the drawing is the false floor.
- How large do the walls have to be for the CRAC unit’s condenser unit?
o Showed vendors the other wall on west side of facility. Wall needs to be a little higher than the condenser unit and wide enough for people conducting maintenance.
- Where to place the power panel?
o Power panel location is determined by the vendor.
o Provided a projected power sheet.
- What items would be powered by the power panel?
o All items in the room should be powered by the power panel inside the room, to include alarm panel.
- Will escorts be required?
o Possibly, we will confirm but should have no impact on bidding process as escorts would be done by 374 CS.
