TASKS, KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL REFERENCES Military Member
Contractor
F-35 Aircraft Wash
This should not be utilized to step by step conduct the actual wash and is here only to outline the major steps and procedures found in the associated tech data.
Associated doors and panels will be closed prior to aircraft wash to include doors 3102, 3101, 4124, 4170, 4172, and all weapons bay doors that will be listed in the preliminary requirements.

The contractor shall utilize the supplied portable computer for all maintenance documentation, access to the electronic manuals / procedures for task specific instructions.

The contractor shall tow the aircraft from designated spots on the aircraft parking ramp both to and from the wash rack facility located off of the parking ramp.

The contractor shall perform the aircraft safe for maintenance task X The contractor shall close the canopy and clean the exterior of the canopy prior to masking off for aircraft wash

The contractor shall clean all sensor windows, lenses, lights prior to masking off for the aircraft wash.

The contractor shall install all inlet, exhaust, heat exchanger, flush port, and multi-function probe covers prior to performing the aircraft wash.

The contractor shall install barrier material affixed with approved tape on the inlets, all vents, main landing gear wheels, all sensor ports, all sensor windows, all drain holes, all wingtip light lenses, refuel lights, inboard and outboard vertical tail roots, and any additional area called out in the associated aircraft cleaning electronic manual / procedures.

The contractor shall install barrier material covering the canopy with care not to apply masking material to the canopy acrylic itself.

The contractor shall rinse the aircraft with clean water prior to applying soaps X The contractor shall utilize on site soaps provided by Luke AFB and ensure the appropriate mix ratio is utilized for the soil level.

The contractor shall clean the entirety of the top portion of the aircraft working from the center out. Clean water rinses must be done following washing the surfaces with soapy water.

The contractor shall clean the entirety of the bottom of the aircraft working from the wings to the center fuselage. Clean water rinses must be done following washing the surfaces with soapy water.

The contractor shall clean all wheels and wheel hubs following with a clean water X The contractor shall remove all barrier material and tapes applied to the aircraft after the cleaning has been accomplished.

The contractor shall ensure no blockages exist in all ports X The contractor shall open the left hand and right hand weapons bay doors which requires the use of the onboard integrated power package. All standing water shall be removed.

The contractor shall remove all inlet and exhaust covers. Remove any standing water. X The contractor shall lubricate the nose landing gear and the left and right main X The contractor shall tow the aircraft from the wash rack to the designated spot on the aircraft parking ramp.

F-35 Post Cleaning Inspection The contractor shall ensure all weapons bay doors are opened along with doors 3101, 3102, 4124, 4170, and 4172.

The contractor shall inspect various areas around the aircraft for damages such as corrosion, deterioration, discoloration, and general conditions. These areas include all sensor ports, sensor probes, windows, antennas, light lenses, landing gear areas, weapons bay areas, flight control surfaces, canopy, hoist point areas, and any other area and step listed in the associated electronic manual / procedures.

The contractor shall clean the exterior of the canopy and all sensor windows if required after aircraft wash.

The contractor shall close all doors opened during the post cleaning inspection to include doors 4170, 4172, 4124, 3102, 2101, and the weapons bay doors.

The contractor shall install all flush port covers, inlet covers, and exhaust covers X The contractor shall install all covers that were removed for the post cleaning X The contractor shall ensure the canopy is closed. X
