TASKS, KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL REFERENCES Military Member

Contractor

F-16 Aircraft Wash This should not be utilized to step by step conduct the actual wash and is here only to outline the major steps and procedures found in the tech data. Contractors are expected to follow all applicable T.O.s to include 1F-16C-23-WA-1, 1-1-691-WA-1, 1F-16C-2-10JG-00-1-WA-1, and 1F-16C-2- 12JG-00-2-WA-1 for wash procedures. The 56 MXG LWC 56EMS-6 may be utilized.

The contractor shall observe all safety, warning, caution notes and utilize all appropriate PPE for all wash actions. Please see

All external munitions must be downloaded prior to wash X The contractor shall conduct aircraft safe for maintenance, refer to TO 1F-16C-2-10JG-00-1 for applicable steps.

The contractor shall tow the aircraft from the designated spot on the parking ramp to the wash rack.

The contractor shall ensure the speed brake is manually opened and the arresting gear hook is lowered

X

The contractor shall ensure the canopy is clear water rinsed / dried before all masking operations X

The contractor shall install all barrier material and tape as described in T.O. 1F-16C-23-WA-1 to all associated areas requiring protection.

These upper areas may include all of the following: Threat warning antenna vents, upper AIFF antenna, ambient sensing ports, gun port, gun cooling vent, canopy, upper TACAN antenna, LH/RH wing fuel covers, LH/RH wing flaps, arial refueling door, upper UMF antenna, rudder access covers, nacelle exit vent, VHF communications antenna, aft threat warning detectors.

The lower aircraft areas may include all of the following: static ports, AVTR access door, ECS intakes, ECS exhaust, gun gas exit door, nacelle vents, fire door 3309, engine oil breather pressurization valve drain, lower UHF antenna, LH/RH wing leading edge flaps, all pylon electrical connectors on both wings, nacelle exit vents, gear strut vent holes, brake assemblies, all antennas aft of radome, EPU fired indicator window, air data scoop, access door ammo bay, EPU exhaust port, fuel boost pump advisory window, LOX vent tube, fire door 3314, uplock and downlock switches in the MLG bays, battery and connections R/H MLG bay, ECM power harness connectors, NLG extend actuator, NLG uplock switch, NLG potentiometer, and any other area listed in the TO.

The contractor shall conduct a post masking inspection to ensure all areas noted in the TO are covered and masked off prior to wash

The contractor shall utilize a clear water rinse of all surfaces in the event the aircraft skin is of high temperature to reduce streaking.

The contractor shall ensure the proper mixing ratio is utilized for the designated cleaners. X The contractor shall wash the bottom of the aircraft in a fashion where you start from the center fuselage and work your way outwards to the wing tips / nose and tail of the aircraft. Appropriate cleaning supplies will be utilized for any surface cleaning.

The contractor shall wash the top of the aircraft in a fashion where you start from the center fuselage spraying outwards to both the wings, nose, and tail end of the aircraft. Move outward towards the wing tips. Appropriate cleaning supplies will be utilized for any surface cleaning.

The contractor shall ensure all surfaces are clear water rinsed afterwards to remove any residual cleaning solutions

The contractor shall clean the landing gear areas and thoroughly rinse with clean water. X The contractor shall allow surfaces to dry. Use of cheesecloth or compressed air less than 15 PSI can be utilized to speed up the process.

F-16 Post Wash Operations The contractor wash crew supervisor will conduct a post wash cleanliness inspection X The contractor shall de-mask the aircraft and remove all applied masking materials and tape X

The wash rack supervisor (MXG POC) will conduct the paint score of the aircraft following the wash X

The contractor will conduct all post wash landing gear lubrication in accordance with 1F-16C-2-12JG-

00-1-WA-1

The contractor shall conduct a post wash corrosion inspection which includes ensuring there is no standing water in the pockets of the speed brakes, the left and right MLG, the NLG, and tops of the intake. Upper wing fuel cover panels must be removed and inspected for moisture.

The contractor shall tow the aircraft back to the designated spot on the parking ramp. X The contractor shall ensure all forms and documentation is completed X
