RAPCON Move Questions and Answers
Q1) Please provide design specifications associated with the UPS 5 KW and ByPass Switch identified in Paragraphs 2.2.1.2 and 2.2.3.1.2. Specifically, please confirm:
a. Is this a rack-mounted UPS?
Answer: The new UPS, should be selected and purchase by the contractor, it can be either rack mount and located on the floor. The current PW 9390 UPS and Maintenance bypass switch located in Bld 216 Room 119 will be relocated to Bld 1285,
b. Where is this UPS to be fed from?
Answer: From the existing circuit, use exiting conductors.
c. What loads ("equipment left behind") will this UPS support and do they simply plug into the back of the UPS or do we have to subfeed a branch power panel from the UPS output?
Answer: 5 KW UPS will feed power circuit breaker panel labeled “NAS C/B Panel #1” located in room 119.
Q2) Please confirm whether Contractor will need to provide AutoCad drawings that are stamped and sealed by a Registered Engineer per Paragraph 2.2.2 Electrical?
Answer: Yes.
Q3) Will the Government please identify existing conditions associated with the Powerware 9390 UPS that is to be relocated from Building 216 to Building 1285 per Paragraph
2.2.3.1.1. Specifically:
a. Provide a one-line diagram or written narrative of the existing input and output subfeeders currently associated with this UPS depicting conduit/wire sizes and distances from input power source and output load(s).
Answer: Current PW 9390 UPS one-line diagrams attached.
b. Identify routing and any obstacles associated with removing this UPS from Building 216.
Answer: Bld 216 has ramp and double door access to building. Contractor will need to palletize UPS system and provide pallet jack to relocate. No obstacles will prevent system removal from Bld 216.
c. Identify manufacturer and model/series of Panel UDP in Room #134 of Building 1285, which will feed this relocated UPS. Is there space and capacity for new normal and bypass branch circuit breakers?
RAPCON Move Questions and Answers
Answer: There should be a spare breaker located, in UDP panels located in room 134. See drawings.
Q4) Will the Government identify the actual loads in KVA for each of the equipment items listed in the "Tyndall - RAPCON Powers At Building 1285" matrix, attached to the Power Distribution Drawings, in order for us to properly size new Panels RAPC-UPS, RAPC-UPS-A, RAPC-UPS-B and RAPC-UPS-C. (Calculating the total loads based on the voltages, amps and poles listed will exceed the capacity of the 40KVA UPS by more than three times.) -
Answer: Data not available, user wants it installed “same-as” Contractor will need to configure phase loads to insure a balance total output load. Current PW 9390 UPS output load distribution in Bld 216 is as follows. PH-1 22.1 Amps, PH-2 31.6 Amps, PH-3 19.6 Amps Total load is 8.7 KW.
Q5) Will the Government confirm whether ground plates must be installed for grounding connections per Paragraph 2.2.4.2?
Answer: Ground plates must be installed, and all equipment install to a common ground plate, all ground plates must be connect to the facility ground. The contractor may decide locations and types.
