Questions and Answers submitted from Site Visit

Q: SOW states 3 1/2" stainless screw length for decking board fasteners. Would 3" length be an acceptable? The stand up drill guns do not accept 3 1/2" in the chambers. If we could use the 3" screws it would save labor costs.

A: Contractor may use 3” screws for deck fasteners in order to utilize auto feed deck screw equipment for installation in lieu of the 3 ¼” stated in the criteria drawing details.

Q: Do we remove the sheet piling or do we let it remain?

A: Sheet piles may be left in place, modified or removed dependent upon the Ramp System selected by the contractor. If they are to remain, the sheet piles shall be compatible with the installed ramp system and create no hazard to the users and their property.

Q: If the ramp is set between 12% to 15% grade, if the sheet piling is to remain and the sheet piling sticks above our boat ramp, do we leave it?

A: The sheet piles shall be compatible with the installed ramp system and create no hazard to the users and their property.

Q: Does the sheet pile extend above the water level?

A: The sheet piles are believed to exist along the entire perimeter of the ramps with the top of pile elevation generally coinciding with the original top of pavement. The land‐side sheet piles are set close to the mean high tide (at the top of pavement), and are therefore above the water level during lower tide events.

Q: How many days need for a dig permit?

A: Plan for 7 business days for the contractor to obtain a dig permit. This dig permit also acts as a notice to base agencies that work will be conducted in certain areas, even if there is no digging required.

Q: Are there any utilities to be concerned with?

A: Utilities will be marked prior to work.
