Washer and Dryers Questions and Answers 2
1. Stand Alone units - washer are 43 inches tall and a is dryer 43 inches tall. A stacking bracket measures 2 inches tall, all in we are at 88 inches tall. The PWS states a height requirement no more than 79 inches tall.
Answer: The stand-alone unit specs are acceptable. The height requirement of no more than 79 inches is for the combo units as they are in located in a closet space.
2. Combo units – washers and dryers (one unit), the spec sheet is attached, we are at 75 inches tall.
Answer: This is acceptable.
3. If possible, can you send the make/model/manufacturer of the previous washer and dryers?
We are trying to determine what type of commercial-grade equipment you were using previously.
Answer: The Government just purchased standard washers and dryers that you would use at your house. It was determined that a better option would be to lease and let the company maintain commercial washers.
4. YOU HAVE 0001, 1001,2001, 3001, 4001 AND 5001. That is a base year and 5 option years for a total of 6 years is that correct? Or is 5001 an extension?
Answer: This is just an extension
5. WOULD YOU CONSIDER LEASING ONLY TOP LOAD WASHERS. MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT FRONT
LOAD WASHERS HAVE MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS WHEN USED BY THE MILITARY.
Answer: I have updated in PWS to reflect top load washers.
6. 0004 INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL LINE ITEM: IS THIS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW
WASHERS AND DRYERS AND REMOVAL OF EXISTING WASHERS AND DRYERS ONLY?
Answer: Yes.
7. 1004, 2004, 3004, 4004 & 5004 Is this for the removal of contractor's washers and dryers if the option year is not exercised?
8. When the contractor removes the existing washers and dryers will Dyess AFB provide a disposal location on base?
Answer: No. It is up to the contractor to remove and dispose of the units how they see fit outside of Dyess AFB.
9. Under Description Line-Item Service Calls. You show 500 service calls. How will contractor bill if service calls exceed 500 calls?
Answer: If needed, the Government will modify the contract as needed if we see the service calls. But there are 500 service calls allowed per years so, I would like to think that we would not need that many service calls on new units.
10. You answered a previous question stating that you require the following:
76 front load washers 76 front load dryers
Washer and Dryers Questions and Answers 2
My question is are these units stacked with washer on bottom and dryer on top? Since these are to be installed in quad rooms. It would be more advantages to install combo units (all in one unit) washer on bottom dryer on top. Please provide dimensions for the location where the quad units are to be installed.
Answer: I have updated the PWS to reflect top loading washers. Yes, the units are stacked with the washer on bottom and dryer on top. The dimensions of the location in the quad units are 79.5 inches tall and 35 inches wide and 33 inches deep. The contractor shall supply 76 top-load commercial-grade washers, 5.0 cubic feet capacity, stackable units (these buildings are quad units) for buildings 6126, 6127, 6136, and 6137. Machines in quad units are installed in a utility closet 79” high and 35” wide. As long as the combo unit falls within these specifications, they will be considered acceptable.
11. Are you setting up a site visit. This would be very beneficial in order for the contractor to provide an accurate bid.
Answer: Yes. 27 June 2024 at 1000 CST. Please coordinate with the contract specialist for access to base if you need to be signed onto the base.
12. Are all of the dryers electric?
13. If there is no existing contract for maintenance of existing washers and dryers, who is providing maintenance of the existing washers and dryers. Will you provide maintenance information such as nature of the maintenance and number of calls per month or year.
Answer: Our Furnishing Warehouse Manager has done most of the maintenance for the existing washers and dryers. We have used Chaney Appliance Repair in cases beyond his expertise. He typically averages 5 calls monthly. These are the typical issues we’ve had: door lock replacement, dryer drums coming off track, and pump motor issues.
