About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation FA303025Q0007 regarding the B910 AJAX Boiler Replacement project at Goodfellow AFB. The document contains seven questions submitted prior to the SOW revision (before January 22, 2025), with no questions submitted after the revision.
Key clarifications include: no rental boiler is required as the unit is already offline; a new expansion tank will be needed per Section 4.2e; an external thrust pump is required per Section 4.2e and TE-1; the electrical breaker for the existing boiler is wall-mounted approximately 20 feet across the boiler room; the existing breaker is 20AMP; and there is available space in the electrical panel for a new 120vac 20amp circuit for the pump. A question regarding system pipe size discrepancy and potential need for a storage tank was addressed by noting that a correction to the boiler size should resolve the concern.

Questions for FA303025Q0007 B910 AJAX Boiler Replacement
QUESTIONS SUBMITTED PRIOR TO SOW REVISION (Before 22 January 2025):
1. Saw your bid project and are you needing a rental boiler package?
No rental required; unit is already off-line
2. In SOW it states an expansion tank. Do you want a new expansion tank or does that refer to piping into old? If there was an available picture of the current tank that would be great.
System will require a new expansion tank: Specifics addressed in Section 4 Execution; 4.2e.
3. The SOW, I did not see where it asked for a new boiler pump. With this set up, Raypak boilers work the best with their own boiler pump. Would you like this quoted too?
System will require an external thrust pump; See specifics addressed in section 4 Execution; 4.2e and TE-1.
4. Where is the electrical breaker for the existing boiler?
In boiler room, approximately 20 feet across the room; wall mounted breaker panel.
5. What is the size of the breaker for the existing boiler?
20AMP
6. Is there a spare 120vac 20amp breaker in the same breaker panel as the boiler electrical breaker? Yes, there is room in the electrical panel.
o If so, will we be able to use this for the new pump? Yes
7. Can you give me the rated flow for the system pump?
8. There is a discrepancy on system pipe size and new boiler connection pipe size, would you be opposed to the addition of a storage tank for the boiler to circulate into if the flow of the system is below the minimum flow rate of the boiler, as per the boiler submittal?
Correction to Boiler size should resolve any concerns brought up in this question.
QUESTIONS SUBMITTED AFTER REVISION OF SOW (After 22 January 2025):
None
