About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Amendment 2 of Air Force solicitation FA301626Q0043 for the removal and replacement of the Hole 18 Golf Cart Bridge (B490) at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland. The document clarifies key project requirements and contractor responsibilities identified through vendor inquiries submitted during the solicitation process.
The bridge specifications require a prefabricated steel truss structure measuring 8 feet wide and at least 85 feet long with a clear span design and minimum 8-ton load capacity. The bridge deck shall be constructed of 3"x12" Douglas Fir decking with railings at least 42 inches high. The steel structure and rails must be corrosion-resistant, with the bridge structure receiving a black preventative corrosion control coating and rails powder coated. The contractor is responsible for procuring and providing the entire prefabricated bridge structure. Concrete abutments must be poured to support the new bridge, requiring complete removal of existing concrete footings. The concrete approach must match the bridge width and taper to approximately 6 feet wide over approximately 12 feet in length to connect with the existing sidewalk. The contractor must restore the site to its original condition, including sodding or seeding any damaged areas around the bridge. A staging/laydown area is available nearby with adequate space for equipment and materials storage. The contractor must establish safety barriers around the work site, haul all debris off-site, and export excavated soil spoils off-site. Golf course management will handle removal or trimming of nearby branches and trees prior to work commencement and will identify the approved route for heavy equipment access to minimize damage to the golf course.
