The south area of grinding will start at the south threshold and extend approximately 2,300 feet north to the edge of the concrete. The width of grinding is 150 feet, centered on the runway centerline, as indicated by runway edge striping.

11/04/21 SECTION 01 11 00.10 Page 4

The south end of the runway consists of two runway features. The northern end consists of slabs measuring 15 ft longitudinally by 13 ft transversely. These slabs have a 4.50 inch thick PCC overlay on top of

11.00 inch thick PCC. In this area, some slab heights vary in elevation and grinding at 1/4 inch may not acheive 100 percent grinding coverage. In this area ONLY, it is accepatble to grind to a depth greater than 1/4 inch, but no greater than 3/4 inch. The shoulders will not be grinded.

The southern end of the south end consists of slabs that measure 25 ft by 25 ft and are 11.00 inches thick. In this area, the maximum depth of diamond grinding shall not exceed 1/4 inch. The shoulders will not be grinded.

Prior to diamond grinding the entire area, the contractor shall perform a test section. The area of the test section shall not be less than 400 SF and not greater than 5% of the total area to be grinded. A friction analysis shall be performed on the test section and upon desirable results, and accepted by the Government, work on the entire area can proceed.

Due to mission requirements, flying operations will continue throughout this project. During south end grinding, the south 3,700 feet of runway will be closed and a temporary displaced threshold will again be utilized.

Temporary displaced markings must be painted in accordance with UFC 3-260-04. See Attachment 2 - UFC Guidance Temporary Displaced Threshold Markings, Attachment 4 - Grinding and Markings Exhibit and Section 1.3.2.3 of this Statement of Work for further detail.

Upon completion of diamond grinding a friction analysis shall be performed on the entire west runway to ensure friction values of the grinded area meet or exceed 45 during a 40 miles per hour test and 36 during a 60 miles per hour test as measured by continuous friction measuring equipment as set by Table 3-2, FAA Advisory Circular 150/5320-12C. The contractor will be responsible for the friction test.

Upon completion of diamond grinding, the contractor shall provide new paint for affected runway markings. Contractor shall clean and prep area where painting will occur. The contractor will utilize White (39725) and Yellow (33538) paint. All markings shall replicate what is currently on airfield, which conforms to ETL 04-2 and AFI 32-1042 specifications.

Markings to be painted shall include Runway Threshold, Threshold Markings, Runway Designation Markings, Touchdown Zone Markings, Edge Stripe Markings, Runway Centerline and Fixed Distance Markings.

1.3.2.2 Grading of West Runway Shoulders

Grading Work

The Contractor shall grade the earth surrounding the west runway within specified grading limits to allow for positive drainage to existing storm sewer grate inlets. Approximate amount of cut material is estimated to be approximately 2,000 cubic yards. Approximate area of grading is 390,100 square feet. The contractor is to exercise extreme caution around existing infrastructure that includes, but is not limited to, navigational aids, airfield lighting, and bird cannons. Bird cannons may be temporarily relocated, contractor is to coordinate movement with Airfield Management or CE PM. The contractor shall obtain any necessary digging permits and utility locates. Work will be limited to nights and weekends, when the airfield is closed. If work causes debris on the runway, the runway must

11/04/21 SECTION 01 11 00.10 Page 5 be clean and FOD (Foreign Object Debris) free at least 1 hour before the next flying operation/day.

East Side Grading Limits

Beginning at edge of pavement, grade to 1.5 inches lower than existing runway pavement and provide adequate slope to allow for positive drainage to existing swale. For infields that do not have a defined swale, provide adequate slope for positive drainage to existing ground. Maintain existing southward drainage flow in existing swales.

Currently, storm water runoff is captured by existing swales running parallel to the runway. As water moves south, the swale turns east to run along the north side of each taxiway and discharges into an existing storm water grate inlet. The Contractor is to improve grading to provide positive drainage to each storm grate inlet.

See Attachment 3 - Grading Exhibit for details.

West Side Grading Limits

Beginning at the north edge of the runway, grade the earth to 1.5 inches below the edge of runway pavement and provide adequate slope to allow for positive drainage to the existing swale and grate inlets. The grading limits will be variable.

At a distance of approximately 4,730 feet from the north edge of the runway, grading limits will vary more significantly to remove a small hill to improve drainage. 10 existing grate inlets are located on this side of the runway.

See Attachment 3 - Grading Exhibit for details.

Stockpiling Location

Stock piling of spoils is permitted at an empty asphalt lot located just south of the high school on Perimeter Rd. It is located appox 1600 ft west from the center of the runway and measures appox 475 ft by 340 ft.
