APPENDIX B

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS-DRAPERIES IN BARRACKS

I. FABRIC SPECIFICATIONS

• All fabrics and lining materials shall be first quality (no runs, defects, or major flaws) throughout fiber contents. Drapery material shall be black-out, heavy duty with a base cloth weight of no less than 5 ounces per square yard.

• Drapery shall have a 7 ½ inch tap and overlap of the master material.

• All joining seams shall be over cased with a safety lock stitch and straight stitch.

• All panels shall be tabled to assure even hems.

• Side hems to be 1 ½ inch, double turned and blind stitched, bottom hems to be 4 inches double turned and blind stitched.

• All hems (unless specified elsewhere) shall be sewn with a safety lock stitch. All bottom weights shall be cloth covered, 1 inch square with sewing tabs. All seams, hems and headings shall be sewn with matching clear thread. All fabric repeats shall be matched at seams. Pleats shall be custom tacked with extra thread. Draperies shall pass National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)-701 large and small scale flame resistance tests and shall be intrinsically flame resistant.

• Drapery panel length is 65 inches

• Drapery panel width is 24 inches

• Two drapery panels per window

• Drapery color – Midnight blue –see below color sample

• Drapery material – Sateen (for easy wiping)

II. DRAPERY HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS

• The drapery track shall be mounted to the wall a minimum of 4 inches above the window, unless otherwise specified.

• All hardware shall be assembled for use with conventional pleated heading system. All rods will have cords removed, and over the top baton adaptor attached. Color of rods is White. The contractor shall trim, level and secure all hardware using fasteners appropriate to the mounting surface.

III. MEASURING/INSTALLATION/REMOVAL

• It shall be the complete responsibility of the contractor to obtain accurate dimensions of the windows/window treatments after the contract is awarded.

• The contractor shall use skilled drapery installers(s) to perform installation.

• After installation, the drapery headings are to stand erect. Rods shall provide smooth traversing.
