About this file
This exchange of notes establishes an agreement between the United Kingdom and United States governments allowing the use of military facilities on Ascension Island by United Kingdom forces. The agreement references prior arrangements from 1956, 1959, 1962, 1967, and 1973 governing the extension of the Bahamas Long Range Proving Ground through the establishment of additional sites on Ascension Island for use by both UK and US forces. The agreement allows UK forces to utilize existing and future military facilities on Ascension Island provided to US forces according to the terms of prior agreements, through a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding between the UK and US Ministries of Defence. The exchange of notes constitutes the agreement between the two governments, entering into force on the date of the US response and remaining in effect for the duration of the 1956 agreement or until one year after either government provides notice of intent to terminate.
The federal contract opportunity posting provides the solicitation number and name for the Ascension Island Mission Services requirement. It identifies the soliciting agency as the US Air Force Space Command and states the posting encompasses all questions and answers the government has received from industry regarding the solicitation.
