Items A19 and A20: Our understanding is that “RE-SCREEN” (A19) does not require stripping of old finishes but that “REFINISH” (A20) requires the stripping of old finishes – is this a correct understanding?
Answer: That is correct. A19, and all corresponding option years, are for re-screening the floors and does not require stripping.
A20, all corresponding option years, requires stripping of old finishes.
Item A20: Is there an estimate of the number of wood slats that may need to be estimated for this item?
Answer: An estimate for a gym basketball court would be approximately 6-8 wood slats. The CLIN A20, and all corresponding option years, is intended for refinishing the floor, with the possibility of replacing a few slats as normal wear and tear.
Items A89, A93, A97, A101, A105, A109, A111, A115 and A125: All items between A86 and A130 address sign requirements; however each of the above noted items includes the term “SIGN BLANK”. The Statement of Work (SOW) under paragraph 1.2.12.2 states that the “sign blanks” will be government furnished. Is this the case for the above noted items?
Answer: Reference updated SOW dated 23 May 2012, paragraph 1.2.12.2.
Items A101, A123 and A125: The actual stated dimensions reflect inches (“) only and not feet (‘) correct?
Answer: Yes, Line Items A101, A123, and A125 are inches (“) and not Feet (‘). A125 does have a misprint on the first dimension. An amendment has been accomplished to correct all items marked with (‘) feet instead of (“) inches as intended.
Item A136: We understand this item is requesting an installation quote only and that the corner guard material will be furnished (similar to items A135 and A139 wherein “FURNISHED” is stated) – is this correct?
Answer: Yes, all corner guard will be provided by the government.
Item B04: We understand this wall texture to be “orange peel” – is this correct?
Answer: We rarely use texture but yes it would be "orange peel".
Item B22: Will the cove base be government furnished?
Answer: We don't have a line item for the contractor to supply the cove base. Generally we have our shop do it but we have had the contractor repair it and on one or two occasions supplied it.
Item B62: Will these “SIGN BLANKS” be furnished per SOW 1.2.12.2?
Answer: These sign blanks will be provided by the Government for line item 62 of CMAFS (i.e. B62, D62, F62, H62, J62, L62, N62).
Schedule B has multiple line items that request a price for aluminum sign blanks. (i.e. A89, A93, A97 etc...) Would you please clarify the difference between these aluminum sign blanks and the sign blanks that are supplied by the government on page 6, section 1.2.12.2 of the statement of work?
Answer: Reference updated SOW dated 23 May 2012, paragraph 1.2.12.2.
2. During the site visit the question was answered "Projects requiring multiple coatings will be billed pre coat as 1 x line items (e.g. a wall takes two coats will be billed 2 x 100 sq. ft. paint". Would you please clarify why there are multiple line items on the bid schedule to be priced for the second coat on items, and how these line items are different than the multiple coats in the example?
Answer: All line items will be ordered according to the specific requirements of the job. There are only 4 line items for each year that mention “second coat”. For those line items referencing “second coat”, they correlate with other line items of similar requirements. It is assumed a second coat (if required) for those particular line items will require less paint than the first coat, based on the materials surface.
If the line item does not specifically mention “second coat” and a second coat is needed, the line item will be ordered twice.
