3 Can the requirements for AISC certified steel fabricator and erector be waived for this project as long as the guidelines are followed?

The AISC certification requirements can be waived provided that the fabricator and erector follow the AISC guidelines. The Special Inspector will need to review the fabrication plant and confirm that these guidelines are met.

4 Our concern is that the tiebacks shown in detail J10 will interfere with where the side channel mounts at the vertical mullion. What is the design intent and how we are supposed to mount the shades? [reference details below]

Design intent is to coordinate shade seam locations with curtainwall tieback locations such that tieback does not occur on grid line B. There is a sill channel to the shade assembly, but no jamb channels. Design intent is to mount shade to horizontal curtainwall mullion with concealed fasteners. Note: tiebacks are NOT permitted to the bottom chord of the wood trusses.

Please utilize the instructions contained in Clause – L.3 52.211-6 Brand Name or Equal. (AUG 1999) and Specification Section 012500 Substitution Procedures.

23 Are automatic dampers required? I understand they want a space heater located inside the enclosure, so having the automatic dampers will keep that warm are inside the enclosure, instead of leaking out, but the standard package doesn’t include louvers because both the water heater and battery charger are sized for a cold start. You really only see automatic dampers in extremely cold conditions, along with the space heater. Are both details required? [Reference Volume 1 spec section 263213.13]

Provide with automatic dampers as specified.

24 We do not see a field in the bid form (page 6 & 7 of 87), or other area in the Solicitation that accommodates alternate pricing. E.g. for the alternates shown on L402 in the Restrooms and Pavilion drawings.

See attached bid schedule form

25 For the alternates shown on L402 in the Restrooms and

Pavilion drawings, base clarify the base scope for this alternate.

The base scope includes construction of the retaining wall and existing 3 benches to remain; see note 504, landscape drawings 2L201. The alternate includes the undulating bench and its attachment to the retaining wall.

26 Bottom of footing elevations are missing from drawing S100 in the Restrooms and Pavilion drawings. Please provide, or possibly consider providing section views through the perimeter foundation elements at the lower level, showing reference to the FF elevation.

Bottom of footings shall be 2’-6” below the Lower Level slab elevation as shown in detail 1/2S202.

27 Reference Slab Schedule on S100 and S101 in the Restrooms and Pavilion drawings. Marks R2 and R3 do not appear to be concrete slabs. Please clarify.

The slab schedule includes roof deck and plywood decking as well.

28 Reference Detail A on S301 in the Restrooms and Pavilion drawings. The detail suggests beams B1, B2, and B3 are required at column grid lines. However, on drawing S101, Beams B1, B2 and B3 appear to be limited to the perimeter wall areas. Please clarify the intent of the detail on S301, and advise of beams are required along all the column grid lines.

The extents of the concrete beams are shown on plan and concrete beams are not required at each column. Details on S301 shall be used to layout the reinforcement of the concrete beams.

Clarified in Addendum, dated 6.24.2016 – Door type 1.

34 Police Station Civil Drawing 1 CD 101 – Is there any as‐built data indicating depth below existing grade of existing steam lines, steam manholes, underground electric and water main?

Particularly on the NW/SW face of the existing building. It appears that the proposed addition encroaches on the existing steam lines and the proposed retaining wall(s) encroach on the existing steam and underground electric.

The background utilities right up against the building specifically on the Civil demolition drawing are slightly out of date as a project to replace and relocate the existing steam lines was in construction during our design phase, and we received the specific field as built redlines from the contractor toward the very end of our design process. The field redlines will be made available to the contractor. We did attempt to capture the new steam and other utility locations on the new work drawings and indicate existing utilities that need to be moved as a part of this project scope. We believe the existing steam lines do not interfere with the building addition, but may run under the new mechanical pad. The exact location of the small retaining wall footing will need to be coordinated with the depth and location of the relocated steam lines and underground electric.

35 Subject: Manufacturer for the MV Metal Enclosed Switchgear Reference: Spec 261300 2.10 B.

Comment: Square D is not a listed manufacturer for the MV Metal Enclosed Switchgear, however they are listed for the transformer and switchboard.

Yes

46 Page 77 references a "Subcontracting Plan (maximum of three per trade)." Can verification be provided as to what this requirement means? Is it a traditional subcontracting plan or just naming our subcontractors?

This should be considered a request for a traditional subcontracting plan, plus naming proposed subcontractors

47 If we have to submit a Subcontracting Plan in the Technical Proposal, can it be excluded from the Technical Proposal's 100 page restriction?

Yes

48 On sheet 2CD121 there are two notes to "Remove play structure during construction". During the site visit it appears that there is only one play structure and that the area shaped like a pie with a piece missing is actually a concrete wall and fence. Please clarify what is to be done with this area.

The pizza play pieces are to be removed and stored by the contractor at NZP as directed by SI-NZP. The concrete planter is to be demolished. The shade canopy poles are to be preserved. The other movable play and interpretive exhibits are to be removed by and stored as directed by NZP.
