3. ATR42 Inspection Program
3.1. Program Description
This AIP has been developed based on the inspection requirements as outlined in the following documents. This program ensures the continued airworthiness of the aircraft.
This Inspection program utilizes the Manufacturers recommendations located in the following manuals.
The Aviation Operations Center will maintain current subscriptions with the Manufacturers to ensure manual currency.
• ATR42-320 Maintenance Review Board Report (FAA Approved)
• ATR42-320 Time Limits Document (FAA Approved)
• ATR42-320 Low Utilization Recommendations
• ATR42-320 Maintenance Planning Document
• Pratt & Whitney Canada PW121 Maintenance Manual Airworthiness Limitations (FAA Approved)
• Hamilton Sundstrand Propeller Maintenance Manual Airworthiness Limitations (FAA Approved)
• Product Type Certificate Data Sheets
• Major Repair and Alteration Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
• 14CFR Requirements
The inspection tasks and repeat intervals specified in the ATR42 MRB Report and MPD together with the
Time Limits document (Airworthiness Limitations - AWL/ Certification Maintenance Requirements - CMR), constitute the maintenance instructions that the Manufacturers consider necessary to provide for the continued airworthiness of the airplane.
The Inspection program includes the following inspection systems:
• Structure Program defines the directed inspections for each Structural Significant item (SSI) developed through evaluation of their fatigue, environmental and accidental damage characteristics
• Zonal Program comprises of General Visual Inspections (GVI) of system installations and structure by aircraft zone.
3.2. ATR42-320 Inspection Program Procedures
The Inspection program for the ATR42 aircraft is based on the System/Powerplant, Structural and Zonal task intervals as defined in the ATR42 MRBR current revision. Adherence to the inspection frequencies specified in the MRBR and LUR is mandatory and cannot be adjusted without approval from the FAA FSDO.
Early compliance or short-term escalations to specific maintenance tasks greater than the Line Check (LC) and Weekly Check (WY) intervals may be temporarily escalated by the lesser of 10%, 200 Flight Hour (HR/FH), 100 Landings (FL) or 6 months (MO) may be allowed on a case-by-case basis; however, the next scheduled interval must maintain the original.
ATR42 AIP Page 15 Revision 3 Dated 07/02/2021
In the event of escalated compliance of any inspection, the next-due inspection in sequence will retain a due point from the time the escalated inspection was originally scheduled. Early compliance or short-term escalation greater than these values must be approved by the FSDO. No escalation of AD, CMR, AWL and/or LLC compliance requirements will be allowed.
All inspections are based on flight hours, landing cycles or calendar time (or a combination thereof). Where two intervals are assigned to the same task, the interval expiring first shall apply.
3.2.1. Low Utilization Recommendations
