The addendum modifies requirements for line-stops and insertion valves services, including materials, testing, and installation of resilient-seated insertion gate valves sized 4" to 16" with 150 psi working pressure on ductile iron pipe (DIP) host materials. The pre-bid conference, originally scheduled as mandatory on June 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM, has been changed to recommended attendance. A signed Addenda Acknowledgment form and a copy of Addendum No. 1 must accompany the bid submittal. Questions regarding the project should be directed to Mr. Ryan Hiney at Ryan.Hiney@lbwater.org or (562) 714-0938.

The specification requires valve bodies of ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 with NSF 61 listing and lead content compliance per NSF/ANSI 372 and the Federal Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act. Acceptable manufacturers for flanges include Koppl Pipeline Services, Inc. (Montebello, CA) and Municipal Pipe Services (Hastings, NE), with accepted equals permitted. Acceptable insertion valve manufacturers include Advanced Valve Technologies, Inc. (Elk Grove Village, IL), Koppl Pipeline Services, Inc., and Municipal Pipe Services, all with minimum five years' continuous product history in the USA waterworks industry. Acceptable installers include Koppl Pipeline Services, Inc. and Rangeline Group (Murrieta, CA). Factory testing includes proof of design test, operation test, shell test at 400 psi, and seat test at 200 psi per AWWA C515 standards, with contractor bearing all first test costs and retest costs. Contractor must notify Long Beach Utilities Department at least 72 hours before beginning installation work and furnish a one-year warranty from the date of final acceptance.
