Initial Questions for DOT PDPS RFP

1. Term Our current contract with DOT for the PDPS (Modification 24 signed 05-24-10) specifies Option year four period as January 15, 2011 through Jan 16, 2013. Why does the RFP specified term begin August 1, 2012?

This is an RFP not a contract, but we have to give time for phase-out if necessary .

2. Application Software Please confirm that DOT wants the supplier to license, install and configure the Application software which is currently being licensed and managed by DOT including:

· Oracle 11G Enterprise Edition

· Oracle ASM, ACFS, OC4J, Oracle Client, Oracle Data Guard

· Weblogic

· Toad

· Doors The supplier does NOT need to procure any of the above software except Toad. Oracle has been licensed by NHTSA.

3. Response Instructions Please specify which sections of the RFP the supplier must respond to. We understand that all items in sections C 3.1 through C 6 require responses. And that pricing tables for Years 1 through 10 must be provided.

· What other sections require responses?

· What (if any) response is required for attachment 1?

The other sections (other than C) provide guidelines regarding the contractor’s response. The contractor is expected to confirm that they will either conform/or do otherwise for these guidelines. These can be a YES or explanation if NO. Also, they can use these in the responses to Section C items.

Attachment 1 requires a response which gives the section number in the contractor’s response document. It could be the same number if the contractor uses the same numbers for response. The key point is the item identified in the attachment 1 should be referenced in that section or should have been addressed in that section.

4. The RFP mentions that “local disk” is required for the VM servers to be deployed. Please confirm that this requirement means local as far as the OS running in the Virtual Server is concerned?

Standard VM practice is for the OS space to be configured on the SAN.

Industry standard practice can be followed.

5. Vulnerability Scan requirements – the RFP specifies a substantial new service requirement. Does DOT have a preferred tool and/or vendor to provide this level of service?

Currently, NDR uses a CIS CAT benchmarking tool. The contractor will be required to install and configure this tool, and other tools that are mandated by the OCIO. The contractor needs to incorporate this service as part of the proposal.
