12/19/2017
Question 1:
With reference to plan sheet S3.1 (Ninole Bridge Demolition Plan), and S20.1 (Hilea Bridge Demolition Plan), notes indicate that the existing structure may contain the following hazardous materials:

As such we respectfully request the environmental assessment (EA) study for this project to accurately ascertain our demolition waste handling and disposal costs.
If no EA study is currently available for this bid we respectfully suggest that one be prepared so that all bidders are using the same information to prepare their estimates.
If there are time restrictions that prohibit an EA study for this project we would suggest that the cost for handling and disposal of potentially hazardous materials be handled as a force account or an allowance item so all bidders are using the same information to prepare their estimates.
RESPONSE:
For the purposes of bidding on this contract, it is assumed hazardous waste material will not be generated.
Please refer to FAR 52.243-4 changes.

With reference to the subject bid grading plans sheets C1 & C2, and T12 thru T15, and the Earthwork Summary sheet B2, please be advised that the grading plan existing contour drawings as copied to file for bidders are not readable, and therefore the section 204 earthwork quantities cannot currently be verified.

RESPONSE:

It is correct that you must submit an original bid with required bid bond in person OR via Fed Ex or other mail service to arrive in Lakewood prior to the bid date, you may then Fax or email any amendments/modifications of the Bid Schedule portion up to the Bid Opening. This is done on all our Bid Openings thus making it convenient that contractors do not have to appear in person to a bid opening. When we receive Bids in the mail, they are not opened until the time of the Bid Opening; if any amendment is received to that Bid, those prices are what we use for the Bid Opening recording (provided they are received in time.
