INDUSTRY DAY – N279AD AVIONICS UPGRADE

QUESTIONS & RESPONSES & DISCUSSIONS

1. Per discussions during Industry Day, JPATS recognized the following changes/actions would need to be made to the Draft Statement of Work:

· ADD: Relocation of AirCell 3100 LRU to EE compartment

– Need photo of LRU data plate and researching STC package & antenna plate data

· CORRECT: paragraph D.7 to read “Upgrade existing three VHF radio panels with dual frequency selector and transfer switch functions…”

· REVIEW: JPATS is reviewing paragraph D.1.a (1) MCP, (2) FCC & (3) STBY PWR Equipment verbiage.

2. Per discussions during Industry Day, JPATS is providing their response(s):

· QUESTION #1: E5 Rack – Mandatory or Desired requirement? Does JPATS have STC or engineering solution of racks that were installed other fleet aircraft?

RESPONSE: E5 Rack Addition is Mandatory; the Electronic Equipment (EE) Compartment expansion as stated in SOW requirement under D.3. is necessary to accommodate new SLS LRUs and SATPHONE LRU relocation; to a lesser extent RNP-AR components under have minimal EE footprint impact.

NOTE: JPATS is researching all documentation for EE compartment modifications. If none is found, then deduction lends to PM557 and PM560 were delivered with all racks in place.

· QUESTION #2: Does JPATS desire Flight Management Computer Operational Program Update 12 (U12) Software Installation from current U10.8A Operational Program Software (OPS)?

RESPONSE: Although U12 OPS will provide functional improvements repairing U11 known issues, it will require Control Display Unit (CDU) replacement with new Multifunction Control Display Unit (MCDU) hardware installation. Additionally, U12 would change the operational procedures for the airplane whereby creating dissimilarity between fleet aircraft within crew training procedures, specialized Navigational Data Base requirements, and flight publications update including FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual. One hardware benefit is elimination of SLS Control Panels and could possibly offset MCDU installation cost. The MCDU ARINC buss would directly command GLSSU approach tuning and reduce flight crew task of manually setting WAAS channel and final segment database selection. JPATS will further analyze U12 cost and look at future fleet upgrade modification schedule including datalink communication options.

SB737-34-2723 NOTES: FMC OPS U12 update is free for U10 series users. Table 1 and 2 below lists hardware supported:

Do not mix different part numbers of this software on the airplane. All aircraft FMC must contain the new software.

Navigation Data Base (NDB) with Upgrade 12 (U12) compatibility will be required for airplanes loaded with FMC OPS version U12.

JPATS FMC OPS U12 RFI QUESTIONS TO INDUSTRY:

1. What are delta hardware requirements for MCDU upgrade from CDU? How much added strapping is required and to what components?

2. Can FMC OPS U12 configuration support Capt=CDU & F/O=MCDU mixed panel installation? If so, what procedures are limited at each station?

3. What interface functions must be active on MCDU to allow GLSSU approach SLS WAAS channelization?

· QUESTION #3: EGPWS – CALLOUT and STC Data?

RESPONSE: JPATS has STC under EMTEQ engineering order EMTQ-021M-1. The STC installation does have all current callouts listed. All target callouts required for this project are listed in SOW Appendix 2 and are also tied to Honeywell RDR4-B windshear callout functions.

· QUESTION #4: SATCOM & GPS Antenna Frequency Harmonics – EMIC TEST? Which antennas are active and do they meet minimum distance spacing?

RESPONSE: JPATS is confirming which antennas are active. JPATS is also reviewing all STC installation data for SATPHONE, EGPWS and dual GPS units. All LRUs are functioning properly; the only question is if EGPWS is using internal GPS or if getting data from dual GPS system? The answer to EGPWS configuration will decide if EGPWS-GPS antenna located between SATPHONE and Dual GPS antennas is active or not.

· QUESTION #5: Proper Documentation…is EASA Form 1 acceptable?

RESPONSE: Yes, the EASA Form 1 is acceptable. This will be included in the Statement of Work.
