About this file
This is a site details attachment for a Distributed Energy Resource Wind Microturbine Project Request for Proposal issued by the City of Pasadena Department of Water and Power (PWP). The project involves the design, engineering, permitting, procurement, and maintenance specifications for a rooftop wind turbine with a minimum capacity of 5 kW to be installed on a municipally owned building located at 1116 Glen Ave (also referenced as 245 W. Mountain St.) in the City Maintenance Yards. The dedicated project site is located on the north side of the roof where prevailing wind direction typically occurs, encompassing approximately 80 feet along the northern building edge with a maximum width of 15 feet, excluding building corners due to Fire Department access requirements. The site is situated on parcels 7 and 8 as shown on the parcel map. Key physical features include a parapet extending 27 inches from the building edge with a 14-inch height above roof level, skylights measuring 27 inches by 27 inches positioned 158 inches from the parapet edge and 165 inches apart from each other. The site is accessed via ladder, and applicants are advised to evaluate their ability to climb the ladder prior to attending the site walk.
Applicants must submit proposals that include the purchase price of the wind turbine unit and all engineering required for proper installation and operation. Construction services are excluded from this solicitation and will be sub-contracted separately by the City. The proposal document includes detailed aerial photographs, parcel mapping, and dimensional specifications of the roof conditions, skylights, and structural features to enable applicants to develop comprehensive design and engineering plans for the distributed energy resource installation.
