About this file
This document is a Bid Bond Preparation Instructions form from the West Virginia State Agency, designed to provide guidance for completing a bid bond for a state government contract opportunity. The form outlines the specific requirements for preparing a bid bond, including the need for a surety company to guarantee a bidder's proposal, with a minimum bond amount of 5% of the total bid. The document provides detailed instructions for filling out each section of the bond, specifying the information required from the principal (bidding company) and the surety company, including corporate details, location, and authorized signatories.
The bid bond serves as a financial guarantee that if the bid is accepted, the principal will enter into the contract and provide required bonds and insurance. The surety company agrees to be liable for the specified penal sum if the bidder fails to meet the contract requirements. The form emphasizes that the surety must be licensed in West Virginia, must affix its seal, and must attach a power of attorney. The document is a standardized template (revised in June 2013) that provides a structured approach for bidders to submit a formal financial guarantee when participating in a state procurement process.
