About this file

This file is a set of architectural and mechanical drawings for the Heat Exchanger Replacement & Boiler System Repairs project at Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Facility in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The project (GP25TM400H10) is managed by the Great Plains Area Indian Health Service, Division of Facilities Management, dated November 3, 2025, and drawn by Taylor Strand with review by Brad Weekley.

The drawings specify comprehensive demolition and installation work for the facility's heating system. Demolition activities include removal of two steam heat exchangers, two boiler water heat exchangers, incorporated storage tanks, all associated piping and valves back to connection points with the existing hot water distribution system and boiler water supply pumps, existing valves, pressure gauges, sight glasses, relief air dampers, damper controls, and flue gaskets. Installation requirements include new heat exchangers per contractor design, new motorized and manual gate valves, butterfly isolation valves, non-slam check valves, three-way mixing valves, wye-type strainers, flexible pump connectors, manual balancing valves, manual drain/vent valves, sight glasses, boiler flue gaskets, and relief air damper controls and dampers in existing ductwork. All new piping shall be schedule 40 carbon steel pipe. The pipe accessory schedule specifies quantities for required components, including three 2.5-inch butterfly valves, eighteen 3-inch butterfly valves, nine 4-inch butterfly valves, pressure gauges in various sizes, flexible pump connections, balancing valves, check valves, three-way mixing valves, and strainers. The contractor is responsible for field verification of existing conditions and all demolition and installation coordination necessary to meet design requirements.
