About this file

This file is a detailed specification document for the Improve Central Utility Plant project at the Las Vegas VA Medical Center (Project 593-22-350). The project involves replacing several pieces of equipment in the Central Utility Plant that have exceeded their serviceable life, including installing catwalk access for existing serviceable equipment currently inaccessible in the existing plant configuration. Key work components include replacement of heat recovery systems, water softener piping, condensate return tanks, extending catwalks, replacing windows and louvers, automating backup pumps and fuel oil systems, separating condenser pumps, upgrading lighting controls, and replacing various pumps and VFDs.

The specification document provides comprehensive technical requirements spanning multiple sections, including structural steel framing, metal fabrications, stairs, doors, hardware, and fire protection systems. The project will involve modifications to Building 2's boiler room, chiller room, and associated infrastructure, with specific requirements for equipment installation, testing, and commissioning. The work is to be completed between August 26, 2025, and December 31, 2026, with detailed specifications for materials, installation methods, quality control, safety procedures, and performance standards across mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
