About this file

This is a technical specifications document for wire and cable materials issued by Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) in conjunction with Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) for a competitive procurement of wire and cable products. The document establishes detailed specifications for six categories of cable assemblies: TR-XLPE underground primary cable with non-lubricated jacket (15 KV), TR-XLPE underground primary cable with lubricated jacket (15 KV), EPR underground primary cable with lubricated jacket (15 KV), EPR underground primary cable with non-lubricated jacket (15 KV), underground secondary cable assemblies (600 V), and overhead secondary cable assemblies (600 V). Each specification section identifies KUA stock numbers, conductor sizes ranging from #2 AWG to 750 MCM for primary cables and various sizes for secondary applications, and reel lengths up to 3,500 feet for primary cables and 1,000 to 1,500 feet for secondary cables. The specifications require compliance with numerous industry standards including AEIC, ANSI, ASTM, ICEA, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards, with comprehensive testing requirements performed prior to shipment and certified results submitted to KUA.

Packaging requirements mandate non-returnable wood reels with 3.125-inch arbor holes, maximum reel dimensions of 52 inches flange diameter by 31 inches width (up to 60 by 36 inches acceptable), and secure labeling with purchase order numbers, cable length, type, conductor size, insulation type, voltage rating, and production sequence numbers. Approved manufacturers vary by cable type and include CME, LS Cable, General Cable, Prysmian Cable, and Southwire Cable, with all cable manufactured in the continental United States, Mexico, or Canada. Bidders must submit cutsheets, certified testing information, detailed descriptions, maximum cable lengths per reel type, deviations from specifications, warranties, and installation/handling instructions with proposals. Any exceptions to specifications require written approval from KUA Engineering prior to bid acceptance, and KUA assumes no liability for unapproved deviations including associated shipping or return costs.
