About this file
This is a bathymetric condition survey document prepared by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic Region Hydrographic Branch in Norfolk, Virginia. The survey was conducted on October 12, 2023, at the Norfolk Deperming Station Q58 Tower in Norfolk, Virginia, and depicts depth soundings relative to NOAA Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) datum in feet.
The survey employed Class 1 hydrographic survey methods using a Reson T50 and/or T20 multi-beam sonar system with horizontal positions obtained via Applanix POS/MV GPS with network RTK and/or POSPAC PPK corrections and NOAA VDATUM models. Horizontal datum reference is the Virginia State Plane Coordinate System, Zone 4502, in U.S. Survey Feet (NAD83). Multibeam survey data was processed using HYPACK/HYSWEEP software with a cell size of 20' x 20' for display purposes and 5' x 5' for volume calculations, both utilizing average depth statistics. The survey area extends approximately 600 feet to the edge of Norfolk Harbor Channel, with depth ranges color-coded from less than 6.00 feet (red) to greater than or equal to 30.00 feet (dark blue). The document was processed, drawn, and checked by B. O'Malley and includes coordinate reference data showing positions in both X and Y state plane coordinates along the survey boundaries.
