About this file

This document is an Attachment C for an emergency fire precautions agreement for the Angeles National Forest, specifically for contract number 127EAT25S0000. The attachment outlines detailed fire safety protocols for contractors operating mechanical equipment during elevated fire risk conditions (Activity Levels C and D), requiring specific emergency preparedness measures such as installing a fire weather station, maintaining hourly/half-hourly fire inspections, and providing fire patrol personnel with specialized equipment like backpack pumps, fire extinguishers, and portable water tank supplies.

For Activity Level C (after 1:00 p.m.), contractors must have a fire patrol person with a 5-gallon backpack pump, conduct hourly re-inspections of treated areas, and ensure mechanized equipment has self-actuated fire extinguishing systems and fire extinguishers. For Activity Level D (between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.), similar but more stringent requirements apply, including half-hourly inspections, additional water tank supply, and the potential availability of a crawler tractor with a dozer blade to construct fire trails. The Forest Service reserves the right to suspend or terminate the agreement if these requirements are not met.
