Technical Specifications for Lake Alva Campground Water System Improvements

This document comprises comprehensive technical specifications for the Lake Alva Campground water system improvements project located on the Lolo National Forest in Missoula County, Montana. The project, designated as Project #1-24227, involves replacement of the water distribution system serving the campground, upgrades to well house plumbing, and replacement of electrical components. The work is organized into 16 divisions following CSI specifications, with Division 1 addressing general requirements, Division 2 covering site construction, Division 3 for concrete work, and Division 16 for electrical systems.

The specifications detail numerous required products and materials including HDPE water pipe, polyethylene service lines, 2-inch gate valves, flow meters, pressure relief valves, check valves, and pressure tanks for the well house. For site construction, the specifications require Type 1 and Type 2 pipe bedding materials, various surface restoration types (asphalt, aggregate, and lawn/seed), and trench excavation with compaction testing to specified densities. Electrical work requires copper conductors, Schedule 40/80 PVC conduit, new power outlet pedestals rated at 125A/120-240V, panelboards with 100-amp capacity, and proper grounding systems with maximum 25-ohm resistance to ground. All work must comply with the National Electrical Code, AWWA standards for water systems, and ASTM standards for materials and testing. The specifications mandate hydrostatic pressure testing of water lines at 2.0 times normal operating pressure, chlorination per AWWA C651 standards, and bacteriological testing before placing lines in service. All new water components must be lead-free, and tracer wire must be installed on all new water lines. Optional work includes asphalt overlay at the Group Use Site with aggregate base course, tack coat, and hot-mix asphalt pavement. Quality control and testing requirements are specified throughout, with independent testing laboratories required for verification of compaction, material testing, and system performance.
