About this file

This is a technical drawing attachment for the 2025 SRD Buoy Maintenance project managed by the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service, Alaska Region, Tongass National Forest, Sitka Ranger District. The drawing details modifications to an existing anchor system at Fred's Creek, specifically the addition of padeye angles and associated hardware for buoy mooring systems.

The work scope includes removing and disposing of all existing chain from buoy to padeyes, including bridal chain. New materials and components required include welding a 2½" x 2½" x ¼" steel angle to existing padeyes with a ½" diameter hole for anode attachment, installing anodes at each padeye, one 1-5/8" galvanized shackle, 1-1/2" galvanized open link chain for bridal (with each leg consisting of 5 chain links), and 1-1/2" galvanized stud link chain to the buoy. All shackle pins must be secured with stainless steel wire. The drawing notes indicate that all shackles, chain, and small angles are new components, while all other features are existing-to-remain unless otherwise noted. The anchor casting is presumed to be cast iron, though the exact casting specification is unknown. The drawing was prepared by M. Mullin (designer and checker) and L. Wild (drawn), dated March 13, 2025.
