Overall results will be a major consideration in the acceptability of contractor performance.
Watering: The Government owns and operates the lawn sprinkling system and determines the amount of water necessary to assure adequate growth of all vegetation with due consideration for costs incurred by excessive runoff. Includes hand-watering areas not covered by sprinklers.
Mowing: Mowing of lawn areas will be done every week to maintain grass at a minimum height of two inches and a maximum of three inches. Partial or patch mowing is not acceptable unless inclement weather prevents finishing work after it has been started. Care will be taken to avoid any damage to plants, lawns, and sprinkler systems.
Clippings: Leaves and clippings are to be picked up in the mowing operation or swept clean after mowing and are to be placed in the facility compost area by the contractor. They are not to be left overnight or swept back into the lawn.
Edging: Trimming of edges shall be done at each mowing to maintain a neat and uniform line separating the lawn from header boards, sidewalks, buildings, fences, and/or other obstacles. All edging will be done to retain the original size and shape of planter areas. A cleared circle, with at least 12" of clear space, shall be maintained free from grass and weeds at the base of each tree to reduce the possibility of damage from equipment.
Pruning: Small trees and all shrubs are to be pruned each month with a government provided schedule to maintain existing shape and size and to remove all dead and/or diseased sections. All hard cuttings will be removed from the premises and the contractor shall place all green cuttings in the facility compost area.
Trees or shrubs that extend over/onto roads and driveways shall be trimmed to maintain at least 2 feet of vehicle clearance vertically and horizontally.
