About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of a full-sized, deep snow/mountain snowmobile. The required snowmobile must weigh less than 500 lbs, have maximum dimensions of 55" height by 44" width, and feature a 9-gallon minimum fuel tank with electric starter and manual backup. The machine must include push-button reverse engagement with audible alarm, hand and thumb warmers with multiple settings, reversible ice scratchers, and capacity to store a spare belt without folding. Optional accessories include a hard shell tunnel mount storage box and adjustable limiter strap.
The detailed specifications require a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled motor with 850cc minimum displacement and 160 horsepower minimum, a 165" track length with minimum 2.5" lug track teeth, high-performance suspension components (RAS 3 or equivalent front suspension, HGP Plus or equivalent front and track/center shocks, KYB Pro or equivalent rear shock), high-performance Brembo or equivalent brakes with adjustable lever, 34"-38" adjustable ski stance, compact low-profile seat, narrow running boards with large openings, and a belt monitoring system. The SOW expresses a strong preference for the Ski-Doo 850 165" model if possible. The adherence explanations justify the 165" track length selection for improved maneuverability in technical terrain and specify that the adjustable limiter strap enhances suspension control and power delivery during difficult maneuvers at elevation.

Adherence Explanations (SOW) Adherence Explanations
Track length selection of 154” X 16” X 3” means the machine is shorter than most deep snow tracks, this means easier maneuvering in technical terrain such as trees on a slope. However, reducing the track length reduces the track to surface area. To compensate for the loss of track surface area, increased horsepower improves low end throttle response which compensates for the shorter track. This throttle responsiveness is throughout the throttle range and can be especially effective at elevations greater than 8,000 feet above sea level.
The adjustable limiter strap allows for increased control in the track suspension. When feathering the throttle during a difficult maneuver, this strap aids in increased power delivery to the ground and thereby avoiding unwanted wheelie situations and providing for safer rides.
