About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of a full-sized, deep snow/mountain snowmobile with specific performance and operational requirements.
The required snowmobile must meet general specifications including a weight under 500 lbs, maximum dimensions of 55" height by 44" width, a 9-gallon minimum fuel tank, electric starter with manual assist, push-button reverse engagement with audible alarm, and various operator comfort features including hand and thumb warmers, reversible ice scratchers, and a hard shell tunnel mount storage box. Detailed technical specifications mandate a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled motor with minimum 850cc displacement and 160 horsepower, a 165" track length with minimum 2.5" lug teeth, high-performance suspension components (RAS 3 or equivalent for front suspension, HGP Plus or equivalent for front and track/center shocks, and KYB Pro or equivalent for rear shock), high-performance Brembo or equivalent brakes with adjustable lever, a 34"-38" adjustable ski stance, compact low-profile seat, narrow running boards with large openings, and a belt monitoring system. An adjustable limiter strap accessory is specified as an additional add-on. The SOW indicates a strong preference for a Ski-Doo 850 165" model if possible. The adherence explanations justify the 165" track length selection for improved maneuverability in technical terrain while compensating for reduced track surface area through increased horsepower, and explain how the adjustable limiter strap provides enhanced control and safety during difficult maneuvers, particularly at elevations above 8,000 feet.

Adherence Explanations (SOW) Adherence Explanations
Track length selection of 165” X 16” X 3” means the machine is shorter than most deep snow tracks, this means easier maneuvering in technical terrain such as trees on a slope. However, reducing the track length reduces the track to surface area. To compensate for the loss of track surface area, increased horsepower improves low end throttle response which compensates for the shorter track. This throttle responsiveness is throughout the throttle range and can be especially effective at elevations greater than 8,000 feet above sea level.
The adjustable limiter strap allows for increased control in the track suspension. When feathering the throttle during a difficult maneuver, this strap aids in increased power delivery to the ground and thereby avoiding unwanted wheelie situations and providing for safer rides.
