About this file
This document is a Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) Plan for transit operations and maintenance services, jointly issued by the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL) and Gwinnett County under Solicitation #26-002. The comprehensive plan provides a detailed maintenance schedule for transit vehicles, outlining specific inspection, servicing, and component evaluation procedures based on manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and operational conditions. The maintenance schedule covers multiple vehicle systems including engine, exhaust, transmission, driveline, steering, brakes, electrical components, air systems, wheelchair accessibility features, air conditioning, fareboxes, and destination signs, with inspection and maintenance tasks prescribed at intervals ranging from daily to every few years.
The maintenance plan is designed to proactively identify and address potential issues before they lead to costly repairs or service disruptions, with the goal of maximizing vehicle uptime, extending asset life, and ensuring compliance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) guidelines and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. Each vehicle system has a structured timeline of routine inspections, servicing, and component replacements, with tasks meticulously detailed to include specific checks like inspecting air intake piping, checking coolant levels, examining electrical cables for damage, lubricating components, and testing various mechanical and electronic systems. The plan serves as a baseline for quality assurance, audits, performance assessments, and continuous improvement efforts in transit vehicle maintenance.

Preventive Maintenance Inspection Plan
Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) Plan – This plan outlines scheduled inspections, routine servicing, and detailed component evaluations based on manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and operational conditions.
The contractor will be responsible for providing a structured maintenance schedule based on mileage and/or time intervals with clearly defined procedures, inspection checklists, and documentation practices. —the plan aims to proactively identify and address potential issues before they lead to costly repairs or service disruptions. The PMI plan includes quality control measures, all structured to maximize vehicle uptime, extend asset life, and comply with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) guidelines and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
The Maintenance Schedule establishes structured timeline for routine inspections, servicing, and component replacements to ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety. This schedule is developed based on manufacturer (OEM) guidelines, historical maintenance data, and industry best practices, incorporating both time-based and mileage-based intervals. This PMI plan specifies the minimum requirements necessary for compliance, quality assurance, and serving as a baseline for audits, performance assessments, and continuous improvement efforts.
