Project # NLZG242002 Building 885 3D Printer Installation
STATEMENT OF WORK
Bldg 885 3D Printer Installation
1.01 SCOPE: Building 885 3D Printer Installation
1.02 LOCATION: Rickenbacker ANGB. Building 885
1.03 COORDINATION: Notify 121st Civil Engineering at 614-492-4121 or contact Mr. Scott Price at 614-492-3211 a minimum of two days prior to starting any work. Coordination with the 121st CES is mandatory.
1.04 SUBMITTALS:
A. Contractor shall provide a detailed schedule of construction for this project via Air Force Form 3064 after award.
B. Contractor shall include with their proposal what GREEN Procurement (Re-Cycled-Bio Based Content) items which they intend to use on the contract (if applicable).
The following web sites should be reviewed for materials which can be used in the Governments Green Procurement effort.

C. The following items must be submitted by the Contractor after award at the Pre-Construction Conference:
1. Contractor will provide SDS Sheets for all: concrete, glues, sealants, solvents, additives, cleaners, and fuels to be used. All other substances of a flammable, corrosive and toxic nature shall be submitted as well.
2. Contractor will ensure that each of the SDS items is listed on a Transient Organization Hazardous Material Inventory Sheet and submitted for approval prior to starting work.
3. To be turned in upon completion of work. Contractor will fill out a Solid Waste Disposal Spreadsheet, which tracks construction debris that goes to dump sites or that is recycled. (When applicable). The intent is to capture quantities and costs.
1.05 WORK TO BE ACCOMPLISHED:
4. Background: The 121st MXG has acquired a new 3D Printer System that will be delivered and installed in April 2024. Modifications are required to the facility (Room 112) to accommodate the new unit, including a new double-door access, a 50 AMP Power Supply, and additional overhead lighting.
5. Requirements: The following work is required to facilitate the installation and start-up of the new printer. The contractor shall sequence the work in such a manner as to support Room 112 to be ready for the Printer’s arrival in early April 2024. A Manufacturer’s startup team will accompany the delivery and required entry doors and power needed to complete at that time. The contractor shall:
i. Install new double door access to the printer room. (Reference UFGS Specifications 04.20.00 & 08.11.13 and Manufacturer’s Installation Manual attached herein) Comment by KEEN, MATTHEW S CIV USAF ANG 121 ARW/MSG/MSC: Need to address height of printer (8'6") so what size does door opening installed need to be? Do we consider palletizing the unit if it needs sent out for repairs, etc? Comment by HISSOM, MICHAEL L CIV USAF ANG 121 CES/CES: Height is only 5"0 (1.6 M) prior to installation of warning light mast.
1. Demo opening in north wall of printer room to accommodate a solid-slab steel double door and frame.
2. Contractor is responsible to remove masonry in such a manner as to protect the existing wall from cracking and maintain any load bearing characteristics of said wall.
3. Install required header/lintel and framing for said doors. Provide steel lintels as required. Provide steel and precast lintels with a minimum bearing length of 200 mm/ 8 inches unless otherwise indicated. In partially grouted masonry, provide fully grouted units under the full lintel bearing length, unless otherwise indicated.
4. INTERIOR DOORS AND FRAMES
a. Construct interior doors and frames to comply with the standards indicated for materials, fabrication, hardware locations, hardware reinforcement, tolerances, and clearances, and as specified.
b. Standard-Duty Doors and Frames: SDI A250.8, Level 1.
i. Physical Performance: Level C according to SDI A250.4.
ii. Doors: Type: Hollow Metal, 3’-00 wide, 7’-4” high (2 required).
iii. Thickness: 1-3/4 inches.
iv. Face: Uncoated, cold-rolled steel sheet, minimum thickness of 0.032 inch.
v. Edge Construction: Model 2, Seamless.
vi. Core: Manufacturer's standard kraft-paper honeycomb, polystyrene, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate, mineral-board, or vertical steel-stiffener core at manufacturer's discretion.
vii. Frames: Materials: Metallic-coated, cold-rolled steel sheet, minimum thickness of 0.042 inch.
viii. Construction: Knocked down.
ix. Exposed Finish: Prime.
5. Doors and framing shall have a minimum 1-hr fire rating and meet the material standards of Spec 08-11-13. Proposed doors shall be presented as a submittal to the Government for review and approval prior to ordering.
6. Deliver doors, frames, and accessories undamaged and with protective wrappings or packaging. [ Strap knock-down frames in bundles.] [ Provide temporary steel spreaders securely fastened to the bottom of each welded frame.] Store doors and frames on platforms under cover in clean, dry, ventilated, and accessible locations, with 6 mm 1/4-inch airspace between doors. Remove damp or wet packaging immediately and wipe affected surfaces dry. Replace damaged materials with new.
7. STEEL FINISHES
a. Prime Finish: Clean, pretreat, and apply manufacturer's standard primer.
b. Shop Primer: Manufacturer's standard, fast-curing, lead- and chromate-free primer complying with SDI A250.10; recommended by primer manufacturer for substrate; compatible with substrate and field-applied coatings despite prolonged exposure.
c. Finish coat: Match existing doors in area. Final color to be submitted to customer for approval prior to application.
8. a. Contractor is responsible to remove existing masonry in such a manner as to protect the existing wall and maintain any load bearing characteristics of said wall.
b. Install required steel lintel and framing for said doors. Provide steel lintel with a minimum bearing length of 200 mm/ 8 inches unless otherwise indicated.
c. Install hollow-metal work plumb, rigid, properly aligned, and securely fastened in place.
d. Hollow-Metal Frames: Install hollow-metal frames for doors, transoms, sidelights, borrowed lights, and other openings, of size and profile indicated. Comply with SDI A250.11 as required by standards specified.
e. Set frames accurately in position; plumbed, aligned, and braced securely until permanent anchors are set. After wall construction is complete, remove temporary braces, leaving surfaces smooth and undamaged.
f. At fire-rated openings, install frames according to NFPA 80. All penetrations to be fire sealed.
g. Where frames are fabricated in sections because of shipping or handling limitations, field splice at approved locations by welding face joint continuously; grind, fill, dress, and make splice smooth, flush, and invisible on exposed faces.
h. Install frames with removable stops located on secure side of opening.
i. Install door silencers in frames before grouting.
j. Remove temporary braces necessary for installation only after frames have been properly set and secured.
k. Check plumb, square, and twist of frames as walls are constructed. Shim as necessary to comply with installation tolerances.
l. Floor Anchors: Provide floor anchors for each jamb and mullion that extends to floor, and secure with post-installed expansion anchors.
m. Floor anchors may be set with power-actuated fasteners instead of post installed expansion anchors if so indicated and approved on Shop Drawings.
n. Masonry Walls: Coordinate installation of frames to allow for solidly filling space between frames and masonry with grout.
o. In-Place Masonry Construction: Secure frames in place with post installed expansion anchors. Countersink anchors, and fill and make smooth, flush, and invisible on exposed faces.
p. Installation Tolerances: Adjust hollow-metal door frames for squareness, alignment, twist, and plumb to tolerances as shown in attached specification.
9. ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
a. Final Adjustments: Check and readjust operating hardware items immediately before final inspection. Leave work in complete and proper operating condition. Remove and replace defective work, including hollow-metal work that is warped, bowed, or otherwise unacceptable.
b. Remove grout and other bonding material from hollow-metal work immediately after installation.
c. Prime-Coat Touchup: Immediately after erection, sand smooth rusted or damaged areas of prime coat and apply touchup of compatible air-drying, rust-inhibitive primer.
d. Metallic-Coated Surface Touchup: Clean abraded areas and repair with galvanizing repair paint according to manufacturer's written instructions.
2. Electrical Work (Reference UFGS Specifications 26.20.00,26.33.51 & 26.51.00 and Manufacturer’s Installation Manual attached herein) Comment by WINEBRENNER, ADAM L Capt USAF ANG 121 CES/CEO: Electrical Work – a Spec/drawings will be needed for this. What panel are they pulling the circuit from and what is the routing? Should be able to use the 885 spec/drawings to identify electrical spec and panel location. Comment by HISSOM, MICHAEL L CIV USAF ANG 121 CES/CES [2]: Reworked and Spec's added.
1. Install a 240 VAC, Single-Phase, 50 Amp Service with RCD (Residual Current Device)/ Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter for the new printer. Power will be taken from nearby power panel PT-101 in Room 107 as shown in attached drawing.
2. Install a Type-C breaker and dedicated AC Circuit for the new printer.
3. Reference Manufacturer’s Installation Manual for Outlet details.
4. Contractor is responsible to verify field route of conduit, wire, and panel capacity for the new printer power supply.
5. Install additional lighting fixtures of a similar design and layout as existing lighting and provide dimming capability.
Layout shown in attached drawing.
6. CONDUIT AND FITTINGS
a. Conform to the following:
i. Rigid Metallic Conduit - Rigid, Threaded Zinc-Coated Steel Conduit ANSI C80.1, UL 6A.
ii. Rigid Aluminum Conduit ANSI C80.5, UL 6A. Rigid Nonmetallic Conduit PVC Type EPC-40, and EPC-80 in accordance with NEMA TC 2, UL 651,
b. Fittings for Metal Conduit, EMT, and Flexible Metal Conduit
i. UL 514B. Ferrous fittings: cadmium- or zinc-coated in accordance with UL 514B.
ii. Fittings for Rigid Metal Conduit and IMC Threaded type. Split couplings unacceptable.
c. Receptacle outlets: Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter Receptacles (NOTE: Ground-fault circuit interrupters are spelled out rather than abbreviated as "GFCI" to avoid a potential conflict with "government furnished, contractor installed equipment".)
i. Suggested UL 943, duplex type for mounting in standard outlet box. Provide device capable of detecting current leak when the current to ground is 6 milliamperes or higher, and tripping per requirements of UL 943 for Class A ground-fault circuit interrupter devices.
ii. Provide screw-type, side-wired wiring terminals or pre-wired (pigtail) leads.
7. Provide wires and cables in accordance applicable requirements of NFPA 70 and UL for type of insulation, jacket, and conductor specified or indicated. Do not use wires and cables manufactured more than 12 months prior to date of delivery to site.
8. All openings and penetrations to be sealed with fire – resistant caulk and mineral wool.
9. Proposed materials shall be presented as a submittal to the Government for review and approval prior to ordering.
3. Demolition debris disposal
1. Contractor is responsible to demo all debris/materials and is required to breakdown debris/materials to allow loading into applicable construction debris/metals/etc. dumpsters located in 121 CES laydown yard.
1.06 BID SCHEDULE: Bids shall be submitted with the price broken out in three contract line numbers. (CLIN).
CLIN 0001: Demolition, masonry, framing and doors.
CLIN 0002: Electrical Work
1.07 SAFETY: All precautions necessary to ensure the safety of personnel and the protection of existing equipment and structures will be strictly enforced. All additional electrical safety precautions shall be followed. All OSHA standards shall be met.
1.08 CONSTRUCTION DIRT AND DEBRIS: The contractor shall remove any dirt, debris, construction waste that collects during construction on the traveled hallways, roadways, or existing pedestrian facilities on the base as directed by the Base Civil Engineer.
1.09 CONSTRUCTION STAGING OF EQUIPMENT: The contractor shall coordinate with the Base Civil Engineer appropriate locations for overnight storage/staging of construction equipment.
1.010 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REQUIREMENTS:
HAZMAT shall not be stored on base unless with written permission from contracting officer and HMP. When Hazardous Material (HM) is to be stored for use on Rickenbacker ANGB, the contractor shall establish a hazardous material storage and distribution system that complies with all Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations.
The contractor shall register through the Contracting Officer with the base Hazardous Material Pharmacy (HMP) prior to start of work.
The contractor shall submit to the Contracting Officer for approval the following for all HM, as defined by Federal Standard 313 Table I and Table II, to be used in the accomplishment of the work / service to be provided to the government: See paragraph 1.04 Submittals.
1.011 SITE CONDITIONS: Submission of a proposal by a contractor shall be considered evidence that the contractor has examined the statement of work and is satisfied as to the nature and location of the work and all matters, which can in any way affect the work or the cost of the work under the proposal. Any failure of the contractor to become acquainted with all available information, including a physical survey of the site for the proposed work will not relieve the contractor from successfully fulfilling all work that is required for a complete and acceptable job.
