About this file
This document is a Department of Defense Clothing and Textiles specification for a Lightweight Jersey Knit fabric (Product Code AR-MTP-25-215) designated for Army use as a raw material in rolled goods format. The specification is currently in process status as of January 30, 2026, and is approved for use by all Department of Defense departments and agencies. The fabric is a solid coyote-colored (476/498) knit material with a Type V defect classification.
The fabric composition consists of 49% Modacrylic, 39% Lyocell, 10% Para-aramid, and 2% Spandex (±5% tolerance), constructed as a Jersey knit type. Material properties require a weight of 4.0 to 5.0 ounces per square yard, air permeability of 150 to 250 cubic feet per minute, and water vapor transmission rate minimum of 1400 g/m²/24hr. Additional performance requirements include water absorption maximum of 5.0 seconds (both initial and after 20 washing cycles), minimum horizontal wicking of 20 mm²/s, maximum drying time of 90 minutes, minimum pilling resistance of 3 (100 movements), dimensional stability maximum of 5% in course direction and 10% in wales direction (50 cycles), vertical flame resistance with no melt or drip, and fabric stretch minimums of 20% in wales and 50% in courses. The specification requires colorfastness to laundering with color change minimum rating of 3 and staining minimums of 3.5 for acetate, cotton, nylon, polyester, acrylic, and wool. Toxicity testing must comply with 40 CFR §798.2250 and §798.4100 standards. Defects are classified as major or minor, with major defects including holes, cuts, tears, edge ravels, skewing, broken yarns, spots/stains over 1-inch, mends, stretch issues, color mismatches, and objectionable odors. For government procurements, fabric shall be furnished in continuous lengths of at least 50 yards per roll with face side identification and fiber content labeling in accordance with Title 16 CFR 303. Conformance inspection sampling requires 2 sample units for lots of 800 yards or less, 3 units for lots of 801 to 22,000 yards, and 4 units for lots exceeding 22,000 yards, with sample units consisting of 5 continuous yards at full fabric width.
